Charles and his party had reached their destination: the ruins of a magnificent pyramid.
The expedition was led by Alexa Woods, an elite explorer who had summited Mount Everest. She had agreed to guide them only after being hired by Weyland, who was part of the group.
There were a little over a dozen people in the party, most of them equipped with guns and ammunition.
Charles had funded all that equipment, of course. As a billionaire businessman, he hadn't done it out of kindness.
He was terminally ill, and he had learned there might be evidence of extraterrestrials here. To save his own life, he had financed the expedition, hoping alien technology could extend his lifespan... or even cure his cancer.
Up close, everyone was stunned.
"Oh my God."
Charles cried out. If he hadn't seen it himself, he would never have imagined a giant pyramid lay beneath Antarctica's ice.
Lex was just as awestruck. As a top explorer, she understood better than most what this meant.
An ancient civilization that had once flourished was hidden here.
"Let's go, Weyland. Let's see if this pyramid has a surprise for us."
Charles's words snapped Weyland out of his daze. He took the lead and brought the party into the pyramid.
No one noticed when a team member named Paul suddenly shivered. By the time he opened his eyes again, something about him had changed.

Li Dan had joined the team as quickly as possible. Possession was the simplest way.
He followed the expedition through Paul's eyes.
Unlike a temple, this place really did look more like a pyramid.
Inside, the space opened up even further.
The raised platform at the center of the hall was built from dark
