She had so much money now that all she needed to do was cultivate trusted aides to maintain her existing businesses.
She no longer had to worry about her livelihood or safety.
The unicorn's hooves carried it briskly across the central square.
A massive Halloween stage had already been erected in the square. Workers were testing the lighting and sound equipment, while thousands of jack-o'-lanterns stood all around, each with a different design. Some grinned broadly, others wore hideous expressions, all casting a warm glow into the night.
In the shops around the square, staff in outlandish costumes called out to attract customers. Witches, vampires, and zombies were everywhere, creating a lively scene.
Li Dan pulled on the reins, and the unicorn stopped.
Not far ahead, a lavishly decorated Gothic villa came into view. It was Angelique's home.
Black bat decals covered the villa's windows, and an enormous jack-o'-lantern decorated its roof.
