Does the curse spread?
Li Dan was slightly disappointed with this outcome. He preferred immortality to the curse spreading.
Even incomplete immortality was better than the curse spreading.
The latter had too much uncertainty.
He accepted this result for now.
Li Dan was highly likely to confirm that even complete immortality wasn't true immortality.
Immortality also meant limitations.
Like Jason and Mike, those murderers, if they couldn't be killed, they could be sealed away or confined to a place.
Or, as the Soul Severing Clown described, a devastating blow with some absolute power had a chance of killing them.
Things came to a close here.
Li Dan planned to attend Professor Goodman's classes at the University of California after Halloween and see if he could visit the famous paranormal investigators, the Warrens.
The Warrens, paranormal investigators from the church in The Conjuring.
Their main task was to investigate paranormal phenomena nationwide and report back to the church.
These two were very famous on horror forums, and many people had sought their help.
The website Li Dan had logged into last time, where netizens from various countries shared paranormal events, was actually the horror forum.
Li Dan remembered that the Warrens' home housed many sealed ghosts and evil spirits. If he could become an auxiliary Exorcist for the church and ask for the Warrens' help.
Perhaps the Ghost Card could be quickly filled.
But that was uncertain. He'd celebrate Halloween first anyway.
Li Dan stretched. After destroying the evidence at the scene, he left the building.
It was already morning when he left.
The sky was just starting to lighten.
More pedestrians appeared on the streets.
It felt safer during the day.
Li Dan called the butler and asked him to drive over and pick him up.
He had money, no doubt about it. But his wealth was relative, especially after his parents' deaths.
Before, Li Dan couldn't stop certain parasites, so he simply sold off all his industries and became a rich idler. If it were now, he would have sent the Soul Severing Clown to deal with them one by one and teach them how to behave.
Even after dealing with them, he would still sell most of his assets.
Li Dan realized that earning too much money was still powerless against certain things. Enough money was sufficient.
At least in Florida, he could be considered wealthy.
Noon.
Collingwood Manor.
Strictly speaking, this Castle wasn't inherited by Li Dan's family; he had purchased it from a fallen wealthy family.
Spanning thousands of acres and having been redecorated, its name was quite famous in Florida. The manor had over a hundred servants and various staff members.
As the car drove into the manor.
The newly paved asphalt driveway was smooth, the lawns were neatly trimmed, and bluestone slabs were laid around the tree roots. Old materials with weathered textures were specifically chosen, and one could feel the year-worn indentations underfoot.
Li Dan could see servants coming and going, as well as greenery that resembled a garden. Further ahead.
From a distance, the European-style Castle from the last century could be seen standing tall.
Frankly, Li Dan was satisfied. Originally, there were more people, but he had dismissed most of them, keeping only the essential staff.
Now, it seemed he needed to downsize further.
If Li Dan could contain classic monsters like the Weird Scarecrow, he might only need a butler for security and groundskeeping.
After getting out of the car.
The old butler spoke first, "Sir, Jennifer and her friends are touring the Castle. Several rooms are kept sealed."
The old butler had white hair, thinning on top, and a kind face. He was an ordinary old white man, looking a bit like Hershel, the farmer and part-time veterinarian from The Walking Dead.
"Thank you, Old Bai."
Li Dan preferred this simple and easy-to-understand name over other titles.
After Old Bai left.
Li Dan didn't enter the Castle immediately. This was his first time returning to Collingwood Manor since obtaining the Ghost Card, so he had to check it out.
Even if it was just a little sense of familiarity.
But before he could take out a Ghost Card to scan it, the Q cards at the very top—Diamond Q, Club Q, Heart Q, and Spade Q—suddenly moved.
After all, Q represented the Queen.
Finally, Diamond Q condensed into a physical form in his hand.
"Detected: Qualifications for Queen, Witch Angelica's trace."
"Can backtrack to Collingwood Manor."
This was a change Li Dan had never seen on a Ghost Card before. Queens were indeed different from other cards.
It detected an existence qualified to be a Queen, and it actually appeared on its own?
However, Witch Angelica did possess that qualification.
Upon seeing the name, Li Dan immediately thought of American Horror Story: "Dark Shadows."
He had only seen a portrait of the witch before, but that was a long time ago, so it was normal that he didn't remember. Back then, his parents had just bought the manor from its previous owner.
It wasn't until this time that the Ghost Card revealed her true name.
Witch Angelica's power was undeniable, after all, she was someone who had lived for an unknown amount of time.
As for the story of Collingwood Manor, it dated back to the century before last.
Li Dan couldn't quite recall the plot, but he still had some impression of this beautiful witch.
He heard she was heartbroken by some scumbag.
This time, a new option even appeared.
"Backtrack to Castle?"
Just the word "backtrack" made it sound significant.
Li Dan guessed it meant he could go back to a specific point in time within the Castle? Of course, he would only know after trying.
He didn't dare to try right now. In front of Angelica, the Evil Spirit Wendigo might truly be no match.
He still had to work hard.
Putting away Queen Q, Li Dan formally entered the Castle. It was still as he remembered: European Gothic style with pointed arches, ribbed vaults, spires, and stained glass.
But after renovations, it had become somewhat different.
After all, Li Dan was now the owner of the manor. When he renovated, he did it in a way that brought him the most enjoyment.
If conditions allowed, he even wanted to build a swimming pool and a rock garden in the backyard. Illegal expansion wasn't an issue; he'd just expand. If anything happened, he'd let the manor's ghosts and evil spirits he contained handle it.
He didn't see Jennifer or her little friends on the first floor.
But upon hearing the sound of a door opening.
Two beautiful faces peeked out from the second floor.
Jennifer jumped up and waved.
"Hi, baby, you're back!"
Li Dan looked up and said, "If you have something to say, come down."
"Tap, tap, tap."
Jennifer and her friend ran downstairs barefoot, their feet tapping on the smooth stairs. As they neared the ground floor, Jennifer leaped into Li Dan's arms.
Li Dan supported her rounded hips with one hand and asked, "Did you have fun?"
"So much fun! The manor is huge! Oh, and this is Heather, my good sister." Jennifer turned and introduced Heather.
Heather was arguably one of Jennifer's few friends from school, and she was undeniably beautiful, one of the prettiest girls in school.
"Heather Thu."
She had black hair, black eyes, and a tall figure. She was slightly less stunning than Jennifer, but still exceptionally attractive.
In Li Dan's opinion, she still couldn't compare to Jennifer, but she was indeed very pretty.
Jennifer didn't need to introduce her much; he knew and was familiar with Heather.
After all, she was the protagonist of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so how could he not know her?
Could it be that horror movie protagonists liked to hang out with protagonists from other horror movies?
Jennifer seemed reluctant to let Li Dan focus too much on Heather and instead asked, "Honey, do you have any plans for Halloween?"
