After those differently shaped pine trees were brought home, people began busying themselves with decorations.
Twinkling colored lights, multicolored ornaments, golden bells, red bows, and stars hung atop the trees—every decoration carried people's anticipation for the holiday.
The shops along both sides of the streets had also put on their holiday finery. Their windows displayed exquisite gifts, adorable snowmen, and reindeer dolls, while huge holiday wreaths hung at their entrances.
Cheerful holiday songs drifted from every store. The melodies of "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night" intertwined, making people want to hum along.
