The Warrens: Summoning Universe

The three exchanged contact information.

Li Dan promised to sponsor their shows, but only if he was interested, and sponsorships for shows he personally participated in would be doubled.

The two immediately introduced the shows they would be producing next.

Ghost hunting in cemeteries, supernatural games.

Unfortunately, Li Dan wasn't interested in any of them at the moment, and with class time approaching, they decided to call it a day.

The classroom was almost full.

A young professor had also appeared on stage. He was not tall and was a typical white professor.

It was hard to believe that such a young professor would be obsessed with parapsychology.

Professor Goodman tidied his notes and set the tone for the exploration for this session.

"Parapsychology is the study of all phenomena that cannot be explained by conventional science."

"For example, the existence and communication of souls, such as mediums summoning the dead, as well as mysterious powers and psychic phenomena. Many unverified horror legends and the return of the dead can be explained by parapsychology."

"Modern technology has also brought new discoveries to the study of ghosts. You are all familiar with infrared thermal imagers, electromagnetic field detection equipment, and high-sensitivity recording devices... It is these instruments that have gradually shifted paranormal investigations from pure eyewitness accounts to data recording..."

Professor Goodman's lecture was all over the place. He even mentioned quantum physics to argue for the existence of ghosts.

It was clear that he was obsessed with researching these things.

Some people listened with drooping eyelids, while others listened intently.

If one observed closely, it would be apparent that those who appeared energetic were often dozing off, while those with tired faces and dark circles under their eyes were listening the most attentively.

Some things are not believed until they are seen; only when one truly experiences them does fear set in.

Lance Purr, for instance, did not believe in any of this at all.

He was only here to gather material for the show.

Li Dan was listening attentively, but a chattering Thai person beside him was quite annoying.

Half an hour later.

Professor Goodman, looking at the students with varying reactions, finished his notes for the day. He then rapped heavily on the table to get their attention.

"That concludes today's theoretical lecture. We will now move on to the question and answer session. To verify certain paranormal phenomena, I have invited the renowned paranormal investigators, the Warrens, from the church. You may ask any questions you have to me or to them."

This announcement injected life into the previously somber classroom.

Everyone became eager to ask questions. Most of them had come specifically for the Warrens; this was the highlight of the day.

The classroom door opened.

Led by a teaching assistant, a young couple walked onto the stage and gave a brief introduction.

"Ed Warren, paranormal investigator."

"Lorraine Warren, Ed's wife, paranormal investigator."

Professor Goodman voluntarily gave up his seat, allowing the Warrens to sit in the center.

A commotion arose from the audience.

Soon, the first question was asked.

It was a personal question.

"Everyone says that Mrs. Warren has psychic abilities. I'd like to know if that's true."

Lorraine hesitated for a moment before nodding.

"Psychic abilities are only useful at special times."

With the first question, the second and third quickly followed.

"Do ghosts exist forever?"

"Have you ever actually exorcised a demon?"

"If I encounter a supernatural phenomenon or a ghost, can I ask you for help?"

"How can I distinguish if a demon has truly appeared around me, and how can I prevent it?"

"What should I do if I dream of an undying evil spirit?"

The questions were more challenging than the last.

The Warrens patiently answered each one, but some questions even they couldn't answer.

For example, encountering an undying evil spirit in a dream was something they had never experienced before and didn't have much experience with.

Also, whether ghosts exist forever, mutated humans...

Even the famous Warrens were not omniscient or omnipotent, and they would always encounter problems they couldn't solve.

Hwahye, the Korean man, asked his question.

"Are there really ghosts in the seven most terrifying places in the world?"

Lorraine couldn't answer the question and could only advise the young people to stay away from haunted places, whether they were real or not.

Li Dan waited until he had heard enough before asking his first question.

"How does one become an exorcist?"

Everyone was concerned about this question, especially those troubled by some kind of evil.

Upon hearing the question, Lorraine glanced at her husband. Ed was only half an exorcist, and he didn't want to answer.

This was because the profession of exorcist was no different from disposable consumables. Except for some special exorcists, those who encountered evil spirits and demons basically only had the possibility of waiting for death, and were even worse off than priests.

But since they had decided to be consultants for this public lecture today.

"To become an exorcist, you need special powers or weapons. I know some of you might think this profession is cool, but it's brutal. You'll never know what you're truly facing."

"It's impossible for ordinary people to pass the church's tests."

A bucket of cold water was poured over them.

After thanking them, Li Dan sat back down, acting as an observer, and struck up a conversation with a brother and sister.

The siblings were planning to drive home, which was on Li Dan's way, and he offered to contribute some gas money.

Li Dan wasn't just casually striking up a conversation; it was mainly because the siblings looked familiar, like characters from a certain series.

The siblings were happy to give someone a ride to share the travel expenses.

Not to mention, Li Dan had an Asian face.

In North America, Asian faces often represented safety and honesty. If it were a Black person, they would have refused without hesitation.

The sister, Trish, was a beautiful blonde, and the brother, Daley, had a clean-cut but very thin appearance. The siblings attended a school far from home.

Because it was Halloween, school was on break, and they were heading home for the holidays.

The day before they left.

Both were very interested in the paranormal class, and with the Warrens present, they decided to attend.

After the public lecture ended.

Li Dan sought out the Warrens immediately.

"Mr. Ed, I want to become an exorcist. Can you introduce me to the church?"

Ed frowned slightly. He had opportunities to recommend exorcists, but Li Dan was young, and he didn't want a young child to lose their life in vain.

"Exorcists need special powers. Child, you're too young to know what you'll face. I guarantee you'll regret it when you truly encounter it."

Ed had witnessed too many exorcists die over the years.

"Special powers, can this do?" Li Dan walked to a corner where only the Warrens were and released the Soul Severing Clown.

The Warrens felt the power of the evil spirit emanating from the Soul Severing Clown.

Their first thought was that the young man in front of them had been bewitched by the clown.

But the moment the clown appeared, it knelt before Li Dan, like a loyal servant who completed everything Li Dan said.

Controlling evil?

They had never seen such power before. They had only seen cultists sacrificing souls to demons for help.

The Warrens fell silent.
