"A bunch of trash!"

Kaecilius's voice boomed like thunder inside the church. He had appeared before everyone silently at some point, his face so grim it looked like it could drip water.

His gaze was like a torch, sweeping across the faces of every cultist, his eyes filled with both disappointment and anger.

"Look at yourselves now, thrown into a panic by a mere evil creature, utterly disgraced!"

Kaecilius's voice was cold and powerful, each word like a heavy hammer striking the cultists' hearts.

The cultists lowered their heads one after another, not daring to meet Kaecilius's sharp gaze.

Kaecilius grew even more enraged. He hadn't been out for long, only reaching some unspeakable consensus with those politicians before returning immediately.

But upon returning, he found a scene like a battlefield. Several priests were dead, the streets were a mess, and many houses were destroyed. The only good news was that the church was intact.

Otherwise, Kaecilius truly didn't know how he would face such a situation, let alone explain it to the believers.

A church that could have its very building torn down by an evil creature – what reason would believers have to believe in such a god?

"This is truly humiliating. You were beaten this badly by an evil creature, and it even got away?"

Kaecilius's chest heaved violently, his emotions clearly at their boiling point. Yet, even so, he still tried his best to maintain his dignity and composure as a leader.

The priests below didn't dare to breathe, and Evans was sweating profusely.

Kaecilius watched the expressions on their faces, paused, and then spoke, "I will temporarily not hold you responsible this time, but there will be no next time, understand?"

His sharp gaze swept over everyone, and wherever it landed, heads bowed.

"This matter ends here. Effective immediately, all cultists are to enter a state of emergency, increase patrols, and repair all damages. I have already reached an agreement with the government departments; we need to cooperate with them to eliminate the evil creatures."

Kaecilius walked up to Evans, his gaze like a sword piercing straight into his eyes. "Evans, as my second-in-command, your responsibility is particularly great. I hope you can lead by example, guide everyone out of this slump, and regain the trust of the believers. Are you ready?"

Evans took a deep breath and wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Yes, High Priest, I am ready. I will give it my all and not disappoint your expectations."

"Hahaha, so you criminals are cooperating with the government now."

A somewhat mocking laugh echoed, and Kaecilius frowned, looking towards the source of the sound. It was Daredevil Matt, struggling to get up.

"So we have an uninvited guest tonight. Well then, the famous Daredevil, what are you doing here?"

Kaecilius's eyes instantly became sharp. He slowly turned, his gaze like two bolts of lightning shooting towards Daredevil Matt's location.

Despite being covered in wounds, Matt still forced himself to stand.

"I'm here, naturally, to stop you from continuing to do corrupt things in the name of faith. Kaecilius, do you think colluding with politicians can hide the filth behind your church?"

Kaecilius's face darkened, and the air around them seemed to freeze.

"Daredevil, your ears are indeed faster than your fists. But remember, this is not a place for you to run wild. Your so-called justice is merely based on your personal prejudice and speculation."

"Prejudice? Speculation?" Matt snorted coldly, struggling to stand straighter.

"You exploit the devotion of your believers to conduct dirty deals with those politicians in secret, even sacrificing innocent lives to maintain your power. You are no different from the evil creature that appeared just now!"

Thinking of the monster that appeared that night, Matt believed the Church of Dagon was up to no good. Otherwise, why would something like this happen today?

"And where were you when the civilians were injured, Daredevil? Don't tell me you were too scared to move."

Evans suddenly interjected at this moment. He had noticed Daredevil's presence long ago but was too stressed by Bronksky to pay attention to such a minor character.

"I..."

Matt was suddenly stuck, a complex expression flooding his heart.

He had encountered Bronksky once. No, it couldn't even be called an encounter; he was defeated in one blow. Was that an encounter?

"You're just a pathetic, weak piece of trash."

Evans's words were like a sharp dagger stabbing directly into Matt's heart. His tone was filled with disdain and contempt, as if trying to shatter all of Matt's resolve and courage.

Matt's face instantly turned pale. He gritted his teeth, his throat moving as he tried to say something, but ultimately, he couldn't utter a word. His legs went weak, and he slumped back to the ground.

"High Priest, let's just eliminate this hypocritical Daredevil right here, so he doesn't disgust us after the battle."

Seeing Matt sitting there blankly, Evans, finding him uninteresting, intended to just get rid of this street hero. However, Kaecilius had other ideas.

"No, we have reached a cooperation with the government departments. This person is also a Special Employee of the government agency S.H.I.E.L.D. We will let him go for now; he might be useful later."

Kaecilius's gaze flickered between Matt and Evans, finally settling on Matt's pale yet resolute face. A meaningful smile curved his lips.

He beckoned, signaling the others to leave with him.

The matter had just ended, and there were plenty of troubles yet to be dealt with.

"Wait, wait."

Matt's weak voice came through. Kaecilius turned his head impatiently and said, "What is it? We're very busy and don't have time to escort you back."

"No, it's not that. I want to know, how did you know I work for S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Matt was a bit nervous, though he wasn't exactly willing to join S.H.I.E.L.D.

But now that he had joined, and might even need to rely on S.H.I.E.L.D. to fight the Church of Dagon in the future.

Not many people should know he was a Special Employee. If S.H.I.E.L.D. was infiltrated by the Church of Dagon, that would be bad.

"Your Director told me himself."

"What?"

Matt was stunned. He had thought there was a problem within S.H.I.E.L.D., that it had been infiltrated. But the result was this?

"Your Director was worried you might be accidentally killed by us and specifically informed me of your identity. If not for him, you would have died here today.

Your Director is a good Director. You can never repay his kindness in this lifetime!"
