"Thor, it looks like something really is wrong with your head. You don't even believe me."
Loki was at a loss. Thor was completely unwilling to listen.
He'd worn himself out trying to convince Thor, but still couldn't get through to him. Loki couldn't help feeling deeply frustrated. Since when had Thor become so hard to fool? Before, he'd fallen for every trick.
"Listen, Thor. I don't know what happened to you, or what sweet lies they've been feeding you.
"But your own brother is standing right in front of you, and you can't even recognize me. It's ridiculous. I guarantee that even if someone took your form, I'd know the difference!"
With that, Loki stormed off. He would return to Asgard, take the throne, and soothe his wounded pride.
The world had truly changed. The brainless muscle-bound idiot had somehow grown a brain.
As the door slammed shut, Thor suddenly realized something.
There was no way King of Mortals could use magic, was there? Even if he had a wizard as an adviser, there was no way they'd know what Loki looked like.
And the Loki who had just appeared before him looked exactly like the one he remembered. Could it be true? Was he really Loki? Was his Allfather really dead?
A sense of dread washed over Thor. Had he misunderstood Loki?
Thinking about what he'd said earlier, he realized how much he'd hurt Loki. If he were in Loki's place, he'd be so overcome with Affliction he wouldn't be able to bear it.
Because of a mortal king's scheme, he'd misunderstood his own brother.
Loki had gone to all that trouble to come down and tell him their Allfather was dead, and Thor had treated him that way. He deserved to die!
Thor's heart filled with remorse
