Background / History

Wang Liulang was a burly native of Dachang Village, renowned for his natural strength. Though he came from a modest background, he sought instruction from the village tutor, learned several characters, and entered the county military as a squad leader. He also acquired practical military knowledge during his service. 6

He died during a bandit-suppression campaign and became a ghost. After gathering the newly dead men from his village to return home, he learned that his father had died from injuries suffered in an argument with another villager. Enraged that the responsible party received only a small fine, Wang Liulang led his companions in vengeance and later admitted to killing three people after becoming a ghost. 6

Fang Ming encountered Wang Liulang and his men at Dachang Village. After learning their circumstances, Fang Ming recruited them as Yin Soldiers rather than punishing them, appointing Wang Liulang as squad leader over his five companions. Wang Liulang accepted after Fang Ming explained that he was Qingyu Village's heaven-appointed Land God, not a Ghost King seeking to spread harm. 6

As Fang Ming's first military follower, Wang Liulang was entrusted with patrols, intelligence gathering, recruiting literate ghosts, training Yin Soldiers under military law, and maintaining order within the force.
