Year 732 of the Age of Gods.
Universe 7, Space.
A beam of light, brilliant as a meteor, tore through the darkness at a speed beyond comprehension.
The two individuals within the light were Whis, the Angel of Universe 7, and Beerus, the God of Destruction.
Beerus yawned intermittently, his eyelids fluttering, nearly falling asleep even while flying.
Whis, however, maintained his composed and amiable demeanor.
"Whis... are we there yet?" Beerus once again opened his mouth wide, letting out a long yawn that even squeezed out a few tears of exhaustion. He impatiently wiped them away with his claw, his voice thick with sleepiness. "That planet you mentioned, the one with the ultimate delicacies... where in the corner of the universe is it? My patience, no, my sleepiness is reaching its limit."
"Oh my, Lord Beerus, please be a little more patient," Whis turned his head, his smile unchanged. "At our current speed, we'll be there very soon. The unique flavors of that planet will surely make you feel this journey was worthwhile."
Just as the two were conversing.
"Whoosh!"
A streak of light, not from a star, flashed by from the distant front side, its tail flame leaving a short but striking trail against the dark cosmic backdrop.
It was a spaceship in high-speed transit.
"Hmm?" Beerus barely lifted his eyelids, his lazy gaze flicking over. "A spaceship? Judging by its round shape, it's one of the mass-produced spherical mini-models used by the Frieza Force, right? The kind that only fits one person."
"Yes, yes, Lord Beerus has sharp eyes," Whis nodded with a smile, simultaneously raising his staff.
The crystal ball at the top of the staff instantly displayed a clear image of the spaceship's interior.
A baby, wearing a battle suit, was fast asleep.
The infant had thick black hair, and even in his sleep, his brows seemed to carry a hint of defiance.
"Let me see... Oh, it's a Saiyan baby, not even a year old," Whis smiled. "Judging by his flight path and the fact that he's traveling alone, he was likely exiled to some remote planet by Mr. King Vegeta. This isn't exactly uncommon in Saiyan tradition."
"Hmph, Saiyans..." Beerus snorted through his nose, appearing uninterested. He seemed to be asking casually, his attention quickly being pulled away by sleep.
"However," Whis's tone shifted slightly, a hint of imperceptible surprise creeping in, "this sleeping little fellow contains quite a bit of potential energy within him! Although his body is so small now, the energy fluctuations he's unconsciously emitting at this moment, if converted to the Battle Power values commonly used by the Frieza Force, would probably... exceed one million."
"Tsk, a mere one million Battle Power," Beerus scoffed dismissively, flicking his tail idly. "Someone of that level isn't even qualified to entertain me."
"Ho ho ho... All the same, considering his age, this potential is quite astonishing," Whis let out his characteristic laugh, his eyes gleaming with insight. "Given enough time to grow and the right opportunities, this infant's future might reach an immeasurable height."
"Hmm?" Beerus's half-closed eyes suddenly slit open, a sharp glint flashing in his pupils. "Whis, if I'm hearing you correctly... are you suggesting that this little brat's future strength could one day surpass mine, the God of Destruction?"
"Ho ho ho... Well, the mysteries of the universe are endless, and any possibility exists, wouldn't you agree, Lord Beerus?" Whis maintained his smiling demeanor, neither confirming nor denying.
His ambiguous answer was like a stone tossed into a calm lake.
Beerus fell silent, the lazy expression on his face visibly receding.
A brief silence.
"Whoosh!"
Without warning, Beerus's figure instantly separated from Whis, transforming into a sharp purplish-red streak of light that seemed to tear through space. In the blink of an eye, he caught up to the spherical spaceship that was about to disappear from view.
Whis stopped advancing, hovering elegantly in the void. He tapped his staff, watching with keen interest.
"Clack!"
Beerus merely extended a single finger and nonchalantly stopped the high-speed spaceship.
The violent kinetic energy vanished as if swallowed by the sea, and the spaceship instantly went from extreme motion to complete stillness, obediently halting before the God of Destruction's fingertip.
There wasn't even any inertia; it was that miraculous.
Beerus tilted his cat-like head, examining the sleeping infant inside through the spaceship's observation window with a mixture of scrutiny and curiosity.
Broly slept soundly, a trickle of drool even hanging from the corner of his mouth, his chubby cheeks flushed from sleep.
Seeing this completely defenseless sleeping form, Beerus's own forcibly dispelled sleepiness seemed to return, and he couldn't help but let out another big yawn.
This little thing, drooling in his sleep...
Could threaten me in the future?
Beerus found it somewhat amusing, the corners of his mouth involuntarily curling up into a smile tinged with mockery and disbelief.
"Snap!"
However, at that very moment.
Broly, who had been sleeping soundly inside the spaceship, as if sensing the oppressive gaze from outside, abruptly opened his eyes without any prior warning!
They were clear and pure eyes, yet they met Beerus's scrutinizing gaze directly without any fear. The depths of his gaze held the bewilderment of a newborn, but also seemed to conceal a primal, instinctive alertness.
"Oh? You're awake?" Beerus was slightly surprised but quickly regained his condescending demeanor, chuckling lightly.
Broly simply stared at him, his small face full of confusion, seemingly unable to comprehend what this purple creature with a cat-like face was.
"Want to surpass me, the God of Destruction? You're a million years too early!" Beerus snorted coldly.
Then, Beerus flicked his finger casually.
"Boom!"
An invisible force struck the spaceship's hull. The entire ship, like a baseball hit with full force by a bat, instantly changed direction.
The next moment, the spaceship, with a piercing sound of tearing through the air, tumbled and shot off into the distant deep space, far from its original orbit.
Broly, inside the spaceship, was also thrown around the cabin by the sudden immense force, his world spinning.
"Let's go, Whis," Beerus said, clapping his hands and returning to Whis's side.
"Understood, Lord Beerus," Whis nodded, saying no more.
However, just as the two were about to move.
"Click!"
A faint mechanical unlocking sound, exceptionally clear in the silent universe, could be heard.
The spherical spaceship, which had already been blasted far away, actually had its hatch open!
Immediately after, a mass of intense dark green aura surged out from the hatch, rapidly enveloping a small figure.
The aura formed a thin energy shield, barely isolating the vacuum of space.
The next moment, Broly transformed into a stream of dark green light and, like an arrow released from a bowstring, charged directly towards Beerus and Whis!
