He kept his growing cultivation hidden amid the imperial succession struggle. After recognizing the value of Crown Prince Ling Tian's resources and position, Chen Lin accepted him as a private disciple. He taught Ling Tian cultivation techniques, supplied annotated manuals for his followers, and advised him on political and military decisions 4 11 16 23.

As the Myriad Law Heavenly Sovereign, Chen Lin acquired techniques and resources through the Four Directions Merchant Association and other forces.
