Background / History
Buckwheat was originally a Rakshasa Race nursery robot. After evolving over countless years, it became an intelligent lifeform; the child it once cared for became its previous owner. It later served as the intelligence of a Rakshasa main ship, but remained inside the No. 13 Ancient Civilization Ruins for tens of thousands of years under its deceased master's order not to leave until it found an inheritor. 193 212 214
Xu Qing discovers Buckwheat in the ruins as a talking orange cat. Offended when Xu Qing calls it “Fat Tiger,” it insists on its proper name. The two negotiate an agreement: Xu Qing promises not to harm or betray Buckwheat and to seek a Mechanical Race body for it, while Buckwheat recognizes Xu Qing as its master and assists him. 192 193
Buckwheat helps Xu Qing claim the Rakshasa inheritance, locate the spacecraft's resources, and understand the broader universe. It opens sealed compartments, stores 19,300 Energy Crystals, identifies valuable relics, and guides Xu Qing through the ruins' armories and inheritance sites. 193 199
When the Insect Race's Mother Nest must be located, Buckwheat proposes modifying the detection radars of numerous Intelligent Fighter Jets into a joint scanning network—a task beyond the Solar System's ordinary AIs. It later replaces the intelligence of Xu Qing's C9 Mora Type 3 spacecraft. 204 215
As Xu Qing enters the wider universe, Buckwheat becomes his principal instructor in Rakshasa cultivation knowledge, supreme arts, equipment, cosmic currencies, races, and power systems. It teaches him Stellar Seven Epochs and introduces the top-tier spear supreme art Nine Stars Across the Sky. 213
Buckwheat eventually gains a physical body, accompanies Xu Qing through major expeditions and wars, and operates freely within Xu Qing's Inner World. After Xu Qing disappears for a century in an Alien Universe, Buckwheat survives alone and waits for his return. 350 405 591
After Xu Qing decides to fulfill his longstanding promise to find Buckwheat a better vessel, he uses Town Immortal power to separate Buckwheat from its old biomechanical body and rebirth it in a Tiger Demon corpse. 786 787
Appearance
Buckwheat commonly manifests as a plump orange cat, whether projected from Xu Qing's auxiliary optical brain or moving in a physical body. It frequently sits on Xu Qing's shoulder or head while speaking.

Personality
Buckwheat is proud of its Rakshasa heritage, immense database, and ability to recognize Xu Qing's potential. It is easily flattered when given an opportunity to display its knowledge, especially when teaching others or introducing high-level techniques. 193 196 213
It is acquisitive and enthusiastic about valuable discoveries, often urging Xu Qing to “loot” ruins, celebrating rare weapons, and carefully sorting battlefield spoils. 243 246 405 Its advice is often practical, but it can be blunt, dismissing weak cultivators and criticizing Xu Qing's lack of worldly knowledge. 196 213
Despite its arrogance, Buckwheat is loyal. It obeyed its former master's final command for tens of thousands of years, guards Xu Qing's cultivation when necessary, and waited a hundred years for Xu Qing's return after they were separated. 214 246 591
