Background / History

Dai Mubai was the third prince of the Star Luo Empire. Unable to close the age and cultivation gap with his elder brother, Dai Weisi, he fled the imperial succession struggle. By age fifteen, he was a Level 37 White Tiger Battle Soul Elder at Shrek Academy, but his Soul Power was unstable from spending much of his time pursuing women rather than cultivating. 15 16 139

His arrogance repeatedly brought him into conflict with Tang San. After targeting Xiao Wu at an inn, he attacked Tang San with the White Tiger Fierce Light Wave and was swiftly restrained and defeated. Lin Mu later forced Dai Mubai's group to surrender 3,000 Gold Soul Coins as compensation for Tang San's injuries, with a remaining debt of 7,000 coins. 16 19 20 Dai Mubai became markedly more cautious around Tang San afterward, though he still attempted to flirt with Dugu Yan and was drawn into another losing confrontation. 60 61

Seeking stronger backing, Dai Mubai attempted to take Xiong Jun as his master and was severely injured. Later, an enhancement arranged through Yu Xiaogang raised him to Level 44 but mutated his inherited White Tiger Martial Soul into a sinister Black Tiger. The mutation increased his offensive strength while undermining his royal identity and causing severe physical and mental side effects. 118 144 161

Dai Mubai joined the Spirit Hall Team as a substitute after the preliminary matches. During the tournament, he fought Dai Weisi with the Black Tiger Martial Soul, matching his stronger brother in direct combat before losing control at the sight of blood and mauling him. Tang San determined that the medicine responsible for the mutation was draining Dai Mubai's life force and had left his internal tissues ulcerated and gangrenous. 152 160 161

After the tournament, Dai Mubai fled with Yu Xiaogang and Ma Hongjun toward Sea God Island, partly to evade assassins sent by Dai Weisi. His bloodlust worsened during the journey: he began attacking people and drinking their blood, discovering that Soul Masters' blood noticeably accelerated his cultivation. 181 194 During the Sea God's Light trial, he killed Oscar by draining his blood in a desperate attempt to survive, then failed the trial anyway. 235 236

His despair and rage drew the God of Wrath's inheritance, erasing his failed Sea God trial and giving him a year to learn to control wrath. After his Martial Soul mutation, resentment toward Yu Xiaogang and the need to become stronger intensified his instability.
