Background / History

Melly normally remains in Avalon as an observer. When numerous female Heroic Spirits competed to answer Su Luo's summoning, she created a Servant clone and took the opportunity for herself, presenting this as the duty of a “righteous magical girl.” 2

Summoned as Su Luo's first Servant, Melly immediately identified herself as a Caster. Su Luo recognized her as a female counterpart of Merlin, possessing comparable abilities and strength but a markedly more troublesome personality. 2

Although she claims that a half-succubus should not have human emotions, Melly develops feelings for Su Luo after becoming his Servant. She becomes protective, possessive, and concerned that another Servant might replace her; Su Luo reassures her that she remains his first Servant. 2 5

During the rescue of Matou Sakura, Melly neutralizes Zouken Matou's escape preparations, erects a barrier, and destroys his soul with Succubus's Shore. She subsequently assists with Sakura's care and magical education. 4 6 8

Melly covertly altered the placement of Su Luo's Command Spells. After the King of Lions answered Su Luo's second summoning, Su Luo forced Melly to transfer the Command Spells back and handed her to Artoria for punishment. 7 She later uses the same expertise to transfer Kiritsugu Emiya's Command Spells to Irisviel. 18

She later signs Su Luo's Familia Contract and helps establish offensive, defensive, and terrain-altering Magecraft barriers around his castle. 27 28
