Background / History

Kaguya is a Hourai Person whose endless lifespan stems from consuming the Elixir of Immortality. Her immortality made her reluctant to form bonds with ordinary humans, whose entire lives seemed fleeting from her perspective. She is also identified as a former princess of the Moon Capital and later states that Tsukuyomi does not regard her as a true daughter, describing herself and the Watatsuki sisters as beings derived from Tsukuyomi's power. 11 108 135

After joining the Chat Group, Kaguya participates in the apocalypse-world mission. She volunteers to locate Rei Miyamoto and Saya Takagi's families, massacres the Takagi Family guards without taking the fight seriously, and captures Yuriko Takagi and Kiriko Miyamoto to deliver them to Su Luo. 9 10 During the mission, she demonstrates both her ruthlessness and her unusual attitude toward death by killing herself to settle a dispute, then immediately restoring herself unharmed. 12

Su Luo later visits her at Eientei in Gensokyo, where he contracts her into his Familia and leaves her several powerful Noble Phantasms. Kaguya recognizes that she has fallen in love with him, while her increased strength allows her to openly defy Yukari Yakumo. 32 Her relationship with Su Luo becomes central to her actions in Gensokyo, including her schemes to bring Yukari into their group and her proposal that Su Luo create a paradise by unifying Gensokyo. 55 107 108

Her immortality has made her reckless and fond of courting danger. She treats death as a temporary inconvenience and has used self-destruction as a way to reset her condition. 12 56 However, this fearlessness is not simple carelessness: when Lugatium's indiscriminate barrage endangered weaker allies, she moved the battle away from them and fought without restraint only after creating distance. 160

Kaguya is also calculating and vindictive.
