Background
Yu Shiqie descended from Pudu Jing'an Nunnery carrying her master's warning not to repeat the path of her martial aunt, Bi Ziyuan. She vowed to recover the nunnery's Sacred Heart Buddhist Scroll, a six-volume scripture said to fortify Buddhist resolve, and to purify the Demon Seed. She would not return to the mountain until the scroll was recovered. At the time, only four volumes remained after losses connected to Bi Ziyuan and the Demon Lord Li Tianhen. 40
She is a Buddhist disciple who has lived on plain vegetarian food since childhood. 63
Appearance
Yu Shiqie is consistently depicted as an exceptionally beautiful woman with a poised, sacred bearing. She commonly travels in white robes and conceals her face behind a white gauze veil. 40 63
- Long jet-black hair and eyes compared to autumn water. 40
- Carries an ancient sword on her back. 40
- Her unveiled face is described as possessing peerless beauty. 204
- Later wears a green jade flute at her waist. 158
Personality
Yu Shiqie is deeply committed to Pudu Jing'an Nunnery's mission of preserving peace in the Jianghu. She considers Qin Shuang's possession of the Yellow Springs Saber and use of the Life and Death Seal an existential danger, and repeatedly pursues him despite the personal cost. 47 56 106
Her resolve can become uncompromising. Unable to locate Qin Shuang through ordinary intelligence, she is willing to seek dangerous divination and even offer to sacrifice her future in exchange for help. After Shi Shangquan refuses, she approves hiring Pushen Hall assassins and repeatedly increases the bounty on Qin Shuang. 106 117 118 119
She also shows practical concern for the wider consequences of forbidden arts: when the Life and Death Seal formula is publicly copied, she warns the crowd against cultivating it and destroys the inscription herself. 155

Near the Xuan Yin Mountain Range, she confronts Qin Shuang and offers him survival if he surrenders the Yellow Springs Saber, cripples his martial arts, and submits to lifelong confinement at the Pure Land Zen Monastery. Tiger Wanderer intervenes and forces Yu Shiqie and Shen Feiyu to retreat. 47

Her search brings her to the Seven-Colored Cloud Haze incidents, the Great Han Gang, Penglai Mirage Island, and the spreading Life and Death Seal formula. She increasingly suspects that Qin Shuang, Ning Jingyun, and the cultivator behind the seven-colored phenomena may be connected. 86 97 110 141
Penglai Mirage Island

After recognizing that Qin Shuang has entered the Dao Platform Realm while she remains at the Divine Wheel Realm's peak, Yu Shiqie follows Jing Yi's order to travel to Lishan for a breakthrough. 174
