Background / History

More than two centuries before Qin Shuang obtained it, Jingyan Palace Lord Wu Xingyun used the Life and Death Seal to coerce experts and elders from numerous martial sects. The resulting upheaval led Pudu Jing'an Nunnery's contemporary successor to rally martial artists against Jingyan Palace, after which the sect disappeared from the Jianghu. The technique remained remembered as a forbidden and evil art. 44 52

Qin Shuang finds the technique written on a piece of beast hide concealed within Ding Dian's silver soft armor. The text identifies it as a martial art for controlling others; Qin Shuang immediately begins simplifying and cultivating it. 36

After using it to secure Ding Dian's surviving subordinates, Qin Shuang expands its use through the Green Wolf Gang, the Money Gang, Pudu Jing'an Nunnery disciples, sect experts, and political figures. Following the Great Void Soul Locking Brand's creation, Qin Shuang modifies the Life and Death Seal formula so that anyone who cultivates it will ultimately fall under his control.
