Normally, the Mist Village shouldn't have been able to get here.

Yet there was no way to explain the thick fog before them.

After all, fog normally wouldn't form during this season.

"Could it be a coincidence?" Kudo Shin said. "We've been monitoring the sea this whole time. How could the Mist Village sneak right under our noses?"

Ishikawa Itsuki looked disdainful. He immediately shrugged and spoke in a sarcastic tone.

"Heh, what a fuss over nothing."

"I already told Nara that a little fog doesn't prove anything."

"But he wouldn't listen, so there was nothing I could do."

Nara Kazama's expression remained unchanged.

He didn't care in the slightest about their suspicion and disbelief.

The only person he truly cared about was Uchiha Jin.

Though talking about Bonds in this cannon fodder squad was complete nonsense.

Still, after traveling together for so long, the two of them had built some rapport.

More importantly, they both knew each other's secrets. Under those circumstances, they at least had a partnership of mutual interests.

Compared to the other two, the two of them could at least maintain a basic level of trust.

"I'm going to investigate," Nara Kazama said. "Jin-kun, are you coming?"

Nara Kazama simply ignored Ishikawa Itsuki's sarcastic remarks.

He looked directly at Uchiha Jin.

Uchiha Jin frowned slightly.

But after thinking for a moment, he still agreed.

"Fine, let's take a look."

"Otherwise, we definitely won't sleep well tonight."

The two looked toward Kudo Shin.

He was the captain, so they had to get his approval.

Kudo Shin narrowed his eyes and glanced at the two before finally nodding.

"Alright, I agree."

"I also think something's wrong, so I'll investigate too."

"Ishikawa Itsuki, are you coming?"

Kudo Shin wasn't stupid.

Though he didn't understand why Nara Kazama and Uchiha Jin had reached that conclusion, his experience in war had taught him one thing.

Great clans were different from commoners!

They had more methods and access to more information.

Since both of them had come to the same conclusion, it was better to believe it than dismiss it.

As for Ishikawa Itsuki?

Kudo Shin couldn't be bothered with him. Did it have anything to do with him whether Ishikawa Itsuki lived or died?

He hadn't invoked his authority as captain and had instead used a consultative tone.

But Ishikawa Itsuki didn't understand any of that and simply shrugged.

"I don't think a bit of fog proves anything. I don't want to suffer out here in the middle of the night."

Kudo Shin nodded.

Too lazy to pay attention to Ishikawa Itsuki's sarcasm, he immediately turned back to Nara Kazama and Uchiha Jin.

"Let's go," Uchiha Jin said.

Nara Kazama nodded.

Once the three reached an agreement, they quietly made their way deeper into the fog.

In the forest.

They moved with extreme caution, making no sound at all.

"Stop. Something's wrong ahead," Nara Kazama said.

Uchiha Jin and Kudo Shin immediately halted.

Though neither of them had noticed anything, since Nara Kazama had spoken, they naturally chose to trust him.

After all, he came from the Nara Clan. He surely had his own secret techniques.

Nara Kazama formed hand seals.

Shadow Binding Technique!

Whoosh!

A pitch-black shadow formed beneath him and shot forward at astonishing speed.

A moment later.

Nara Kazama spoke in a low voice. "It's a standard Mist Village squad. I've restrained one of them."

"Move!" Uchiha Jin said coldly. "Kill the other two and leave the restrained one alive."

"We need to pry more information out of him."

Naturally, Kudo Shin and Nara Kazama had no objections.

Then.

Uchiha Jin said no more and charged forward, with Kudo Shin following close behind.

In just five seconds, Uchiha Jin spotted three figures.

He couldn't even be bothered to use ninjutsu. He simply pulled out a Kunai.

He flung it directly, piercing one Mist Ninja's throat.

"Enemy attack!"

One of the Mist Ninja shouted.

But before he could truly locate the enemy, Uchiha Jin appeared behind him and slit his throat with another Kunai.

Ten seconds later.

Kudo Shin finally arrived. Looking at the two Mist Ninja corpses before him, he couldn't stop a chill from running down his spine.

His face was full of relief.

Luckily, he had listened to the two of them. Otherwise, the enemy might have reached their garrison point while he was still asleep.

Just thinking about that outcome made his entire body turn cold.

While Kudo Shin stood there in a daze, Nara Kazama arrived as well. He broke the restrained Mist Ninja's limbs before dispersing the Nara Clan's secret technique.

"Talk."

"How many people did the Mist Village send this time, and how did you get here?"

"What is your plan?"

"..."

Unfortunately.

This Mist Ninja was extremely stubborn. He merely glared at them hatefully before speaking with disdain.

"I won't say anything. Kill me!"

Nara Kazama's expression remained calm.

He didn't respond to the Mist Ninja. Instead, he looked toward Uchiha Jin and Kudo Shin.

"I'm not from the Yamanaka Clan. I have no way to extract memories directly."
