Background / History

Jin is a transmigrator originally named Liu Jin. He spent seven or eight years in the Uchiha Clan trying to survive through “lying low,” rather than pursuing fame or clan status. During the Third Great Ninja War, he was promoted from the Ninja Academy early and treated as expendable cannon fodder. 1

His parents were jōnin and loyalists of Kagami Uchiha. After Kagami’s death, they were purged by the Uchiha radical faction and died on a mission. Jin was denied orphanage support and survivor benefits, leaving him ostracized within the clan and financially dependent on their inheritance and the kindness of Teuchi’s family. Uchiha Setsuna later admits to having orchestrated his parents’ deaths and cut off Jin’s benefits. 1 7 105

Despite being branded a failure at the Academy, Jin had secretly mastered five Fire Release techniques and possessed a Three-Tomoe Sharingan. He deliberately maintained the image of a weak, lazy Uchiha so neither Konoha’s leadership nor his clan would see him as a threat. 1 10 33

After receiving the Lay-Flat System and the Six Powers Training Method, Jin gained the ability to grow stronger without conventional training. He initially intended to survive the Uchiha clan’s eventual destruction, defect during the massacre, and live as a rogue ninja. His connections with Shisui, Itachi, Teuchi, Ayame, and later his comrades gradually made that plan unacceptable to him. 2 5 21 187

Personality

Jin presents himself as polite, humble, and indolent. He regularly helps at Ichiraku Ramen, treats Teuchi and Ayame with genuine affection, and lacks the overt arrogance usually expected of an Uchiha. 3 6 92

His laziness is also a survival strategy. Jin believes that visibly becoming a hardworking genius would make powerful people unable to “sleep at night,” so he cultivated the persona of a harmless, mediocre cannon-fodder ninja. 33

Behind that façade, Jin is calculating, politically observant, and willing to deceive opponents or conceal his abilities. He distrusts both Konoha’s leadership and Uchiha extremism, preferring alliances, leverage, and long-term planning over reckless confrontation. 15 55 421 422

Jin can be ruthlessly decisive when threatened. He killed Uchiha Yoshio’s group after luring them to the Forest of Death, publicly humiliated Uchiha Setsuna, and annihilated Root operatives who attempted to kill him. 12 105 126

Though he initially placed self-preservation above all else, Jin increasingly accepts responsibility for people he considers his own. He chooses to protect Shisui, trains Itachi seriously as his disciple, and treats promises as obligations worth risking himself for. 21 111 444

Abilities & Skills

Lay-Flat System

Jin’s system rewards him for resting and avoiding strenuous conventional training, allowing his chakra, techniques, and physical capabilities to improve passively. 2 4

  • Granted the Six Powers Training Method as its newbie reward. 2
  • Rewarded him with Observation Haki and Armament Haki after his Sharingan and Fire Release advanced. 82
  • Later granted Conqueror’s Haki, Kaido’s Physical Defense, and Primordial Series Vertical Golden Light. 211 212
  • Also produces irrelevant rewards, including Das Kapital and Postpartum Care for Sows, much to Jin’s frustration. 211

Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan

Jin concealed a Three-Tomoe Sharingan from childhood, then later awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan. His Mangekyō abilities are tied to exceptionally high Yin Style and eye power. 1 211

  • Void — left eye technique: Can directly target and tear apart a target’s soul when sufficient ocular power is available. 73 211
  • Phantom — right eye technique: Targets the body; Jin used it to disintegrate the Fourth Raikage. 211 232
  • Heavenly Domain — dual-eye technique: A fusion ability associated with “Word Manifestation,” described as controlling rules through spoken declaration. 73 211
  • Used Heavenly Domain to collapse the Hyuga Clan’s Caged Bird seal, a feat that could fundamentally undermine the Main Family’s control over the Branch Family. 351
  • Can use Sharingan genjutsu to infiltrate a jinchūriki’s mental world and briefly control a tailed beast; he took control of Gyūki through Killer B. 233
  • Mangekyō use consumes significant eye power. Jin claims to be developing a method to restore depleted ocular power. 126 127

Fire Release

Jin inherited Fire Release scrolls from his parents and mastered techniques beyond what his public Academy record suggested. 1

  • Great Fireball Technique
  • Phoenix Sage Fire Technique
  • Flame Bullet Technique
  • Great Fire Annihilation
  • Violent Storm Dance
  • At full power, his Fire Release created a sea of flames spanning roughly twenty kilometers and overwhelmed large numbers of Stone shinobi. 231

Six Powers

Jin received and developed the Six Powers as his core taijutsu system. He later taught all six techniques to Uchiha Itachi. 2 112

  • Soru — burst-speed movement.
  • Iron Body — defensive body hardening; Iron Body: Cannonball turns Jin into a high-speed armored projectile. 65
  • Kami-e — body-softening evasive technique; Jin used Kami-e: Soft Mud to evade Hiramekarei’s slash. 65
  • Geppo — aerial movement.
  • Tempest Kick — ranged kicking techniques, including White Lightning, which crushed Jinin Akebino. 65
  • Yari — finger-thrust attacks capable of piercing vital organs; Jin used it to kill Raiga Kurosuki and Kuroki Daiwa. 65

Haki

Jin possesses all three types of Haki, abilities outside the normal chakra system. 436

  • Observation Haki — long-range sensory perception capable of detecting concealed targets, including Minato despite his concealment techniques. 295
  • Armament Haki — black defensive reinforcement used alongside Iron Body; it contributed to Jin surviving attacks such as Killer B’s Tailed Beast Bomb. 232 438
  • Conqueror’s Haki — releases overwhelming pressure that incapacitates weaker enemies. Jin used it to knock out approximately three thousand Stone Village elite shinobi. 230

Primordial Series Vertical Golden Light

A system-granted movement ability that transforms Jin into a beam of golden light. 212

  • Maximum listed speed: Mach 35.
  • Speed can be adjusted by Jin.
  • Ignores attacks while transformed into light.
  • Limited to ten uses per day. 212

Forbidden Techniques and Training Theory

Jin studies combat methods beyond standard Uchiha traditions and focuses on strengthening a ninja’s foundation rather than merely exhausting potential. 111 176

  • Copied both the original and Might Duy’s revised versions of the Eight Inner Gates from the Forbidden Scroll. 176
  • Acquired the Spirit Transformation Technique as research into Yin Style and ocular-power development. 176 180
  • Developed and teaches a Meditation Method and Horse Stance to cultivate ocular power and physical foundations. 113 181
  • Uses the Summoning Jutsu and possesses a ninja crow supplied by Shisui for emergencies. 20

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Pendant Inner Armor — A fishnet-style protective garment made with Outer-world Meteorite Iron and Hundred Refined Iron; gifted by Shisui before Jin’s first battlefield deployment. 23
  • Ninja Crow — Given by Shisui as an emergency contact method after Jin learned Summoning Jutsu. 20
  • Special marked kunai — Given by Minato Namikaze for emergencies and later used to summon Minato through Flying Thunder God. 226 237
  • Uchiha signal flare — Provided to Hyuga Aya as a means of calling for Uchiha support. 344

Relationships

  • Uchiha Shisui — Closest friend and brother-like figure. Shisui’s concern for Jin helped change Jin’s willingness to abandon the clan; Jin later guides Shisui through Uchiha politics and faction-building. 6 20 55
  • Uchiha Fugaku — Clan leader and political ally. Fugaku supports Jin’s rise after recognizing his strength, while increasingly treating Jin as a mentor in clan strategy. 126 152 269
  • Uchiha Itachi — Jin’s disciple. Jin teaches him the Six Powers, Meditation Method, and Horse Stance, while insisting on responsible, foundation-focused training. 111 113
  • Nara Kazama — Former Seventh Squad teammate, confidant, and strategist. Both initially hid their true abilities; they later develop mutual trust and become central partners in Jin’s faction. 21 33 58

  • Rin Nohara — Jin pursues a relationship with Rin while working to prevent the circumstances that would drive her to sacrifice herself. Their relationship progresses steadily. 379 384 393
  • Minato Namikaze — Friend and “hidden ally.” Jin respects Minato’s character, while Minato rejects Hiruzen’s attempts to portray Jin as an ambitious schemer. 182 374
  • Teuchi and Ayame — Longtime supporters from Ichiraku Ramen. They fed Jin during his neglected childhood, and he regards them with gratitude and familial affection. 5 6 92
  • Might Duy — Recruited by Jin to teach the Eight Inner Gates and strengthen the Uchiha’s taijutsu foundation. Jin values Duy’s honesty and straightforward character. 254 261
  • Uchiha Madara — An uneasy ally. Jin seeks Madara’s cells, seals, and assistance with reviving Izuna, while Madara recognizes similarities between Jin and Izuna. 269 272 273
