Background

Ning Rongrong was raised as the cherished daughter of Ning Fengzhi within the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. With Ning Fengzhi unable to surpass level 79 and his sons lacking exceptional talent, the sect's hopes for breaking the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda's limitations increasingly rested on her. 21

After Yu Cheng's Whale Rubber Theory became available, Ning Fengzhi made Rongrong the centerpiece of his plan to evolve the sect's Martial Soul. He tested the method on ten quasi-Soul Grand Masters; eight succeeded, one suffered irreversible meridian damage, and one died. Despite his reluctance, he had Rongrong consume ten pieces of ten-thousand-year Whale Rubber before attempting a thousand-year second ring. Rongrong initially displays the naivety and entitlement of someone raised under exceptional protection. When confronted by roadside thugs, she attempted to intimidate them through her sect's name and falsely presented Yu Cheng as her powerful “cousin,” then used him as a distraction while fleeing. 63 64

Despite this immaturity, she is quick-thinking and resilient. She forces herself to act under pressure, learns from the ambush, and later follows Yu Cheng's travel arrangements rather than risking the road alone. 63 67

She respects genuine strength and talent. Journey with Yu Cheng

After leaving the sect, Rongrong meets Yu Cheng while traveling toward Nuoding City. A staged carriage breakdown leads to an ambush by eight thugs. Her attempt to invoke her sect's authority escalates the danger, and her attempt to divert the attackers toward Yu Cheng fails when he reveals himself as a three-ringed Soul Elder. 63 64

Yu Cheng returns to rescue her, and Rongrong assists him with her support skills. The violence shocks her, but she recognizes Yu Cheng's identity and chooses to continue traveling with him. Over the following months, she becomes comfortable enough to ask him to call her “Rongrong.” 65 66 67

Shrek Academy
