The Planet Vegeta of the late era is an extremely dangerous place; the infamous "planet broker" Frieza may well have already set his sights on it.
Roland knows clearly that the most important thing right now is to figure out what time period he is in and then hurry to leave Planet Vegeta. However, a glance at his own short arms and legs tells him that his plans will have to be shelved for the time being.
A child's body is truly a nuisance. Sitting on the ground grumbling, the only thing that brings him a shred of comfort is that he is likely not in any immediate mortal danger.
Since he is here, he might as well make the best of it. Roland reflexively reaches to press the Scouter by his ear, only to find nothing there.
It is only then he realizes that his Scouter has been confiscated. Aside from a small-sized combat suit, he has absolutely nothing left.
"At this rate, I don't even know what my own combat power is."
If only he knew how to use Ki Sensing like the Earthlings. Vegeta was able to learn Ki Sensing through observation without a master; Roland wants to try it too, but after struggling for most of the day, he hasn't even grasped the basic concept of what "ki" actually is.
It seems I am still far from being a genius!
Roland pouts and clicks his tongue. After all, geniuses like Vegeta are rare even on Planet Vegeta. If Earthlings' secret techniques were so easy to learn, aliens across the universe wouldn't all be relying on Scouters.
Ki Sensing must be something profoundly deep.
Roland consoles himself, refusing to believe that his own talent is lacking.
In fact, Roland's talent is actually quite good. Being classified as an intermediate-level warrior at birth is already quite remarkable. Among Saiyan newborns, those with a combat power below 50 are lower-level warriors, those between 50 and 100 are intermediate-level, and those above 100 are considered geniuses among the Saiyans, classified as upper-level warriors.
Within the entire Saiyan race, the number of upper-level warriors is tiny; you might not even find one in a hundred newborns. Every upper-level warrior is a talent who receives close attention and specialized training. Things like being sent to a training squad would never happen to them; even if they were orphans, the race would provide them with the best care.
Below the upper-level warriors are the intermediate-level warriors, the future pillars of the race. They account for about eight or nine percent of newborns, a relatively small number. The remaining ninety percent are all lower-level warriors, including a large majority of non-combatants who will never break 1,000 combat power in their entire lives.
Generally speaking, a Saiyan's birth largely determines the strength they can achieve in the future. Even with good training, lower-level warriors typically grow to a combat power under 2,000, while intermediate-level warriors reach between 2,000 and 5,000. Only upper-level warriors can potentially reach or exceed 5,000 combat power.
Therefore, upper-level warriors hold an especially prestigious status among Saiyans. They are the noble families of the Saiyan race and represent the peak of Saiyan combat power.
Currently, there are no more than five upper-level warriors on the entire Planet Vegeta with a combat power exceeding 10,000. Without exception, they are the elite among Saiyans.
"According to my memory, this body of mine originally had a combat power of 134. Reaching this level at just over three years old is definitely already quite remarkable; I could reach at least 3,000 combat power by adulthood. It's a pity that the lack of nutrient fluid has held me back significantly."
Thinking of the crude methods used at the treatment center, Roland feels a deep loathing.
If they had given him top-tier nutrient fluid, he would bet that his current combat power could easily reach 180!
But then again, if his predecessor had been that strong, there would have been no opportunity for him to transmigrate and possess this body.
"Hmph, I can't figure out something as profound as Ki Sensing, but I should be able to manage an energy blast. Let me think... I seem to have used one in my memories. It goes like this..." Following his memories to channel the energy within his body, a cluster of dazzling light suddenly forms in his palm, quickly transforming into a bright blue energy sphere.
"It rose up! An energy sphere!" Roland shouts in excitement.
But the next second, the violent movement aggravates his injuries. Roland stumbles, and the energy sphere in his hand is flung away.
The blue-glowing spherical object flies out as rapidly as a bullet leaving a chamber, instantly slamming into a forest hundreds of meters away. With a thunderous "BOOM," the energy blast erupts with terrifying power upon impact. Countless sand and stones fill the air, quickly obscuring his vision.
The energy released by the blast instantly destroys a large swath of the forest. A powerful shockwave spreads from the center of the explosion, flattening countless towering trees and uprooting them entirely.
When the dust and smoke clear, what remains before his eyes is a barren, cratered patch of land nearly a hundred meters square, completely unrecognizable.
Roland stares, dumbfounded, shocked by the destruction he has caused.
"This power is way too strong! It's like being hit by a missile."
This destructive power is definitely far beyond 134 combat power. Being on the verge of death really did trigger his potential—or rather, it triggered the potential provided by the previous nutrient fluid.
Roland grins foolishly, a fire seemingly burning in his heart. At this moment, Frieza, Majin Buu—none of them matter. He could easily defeat them all.
"Pah, what kind of dream am I having? Why would I go out of my way to provoke them!"
Roland slaps himself. That was just asking for trouble. Right now, preserving his own life is the most important thing. Hmm, I need to figure out how to get a spaceship as soon as possible. I can't win a fight, so I'll have to steal one. But even if I steal one, I don't know how to operate it! This is so frustrating!
Well, better to focus on increasing my own strength first. Once I'm strong enough, everything will be easier.
Roland is just that cautious.
The Dragon Ball world follows the law of the jungle; strength is the top priority. Since he has become a Saiyan, wouldn't it be a wasted trip if he didn't make good use of his talent?
Thus, in the days that followed, Roland lived alone in the forest. Fortunately, this forest is only a little over a hundred kilometers from the nearest Saiyan settlement, and the more dangerous beasts in the forest had long since been cleared out by the Saiyans. Staying here allowed Roland to become well-acquainted with his own power.
"Today is the 135th day since I transmigrated, and today I got beaten up badly again. My opponent was a rabbit with long ears. It's truly strange that even the rabbits on Planet Vegeta are this strong. Just you wait, I'm marking this grudge down—I'm going to braise you red one of these days."
"After a satisfying lunch, my combat power has indeed increased quite a bit. I feel like I'm already stronger than Tien Shinhan was at the World Martial Arts Tournament. As expected of a Saiyan body, the physical constitution is just too strong. Maybe it won't be long before I can surpass that King Piccolo fellow."
"Damn it, this is the Dragon Ball world... I can't get arrogant."
"Better lay low for a while longer."
"I'll head back to the settlement in a few days to take a look. I can't afford to waste any more time; I must leave Planet Vegeta as soon as possible. But my current status is that of an undocumented person—how am I supposed to clear that?"
"Bathing in the moonlight, I feel like I'm brimming with energy!"
Roland lies on a pile of withered leaves, recalling his experiences over the hundred-plus days since arriving on Planet Vegeta.
The surroundings are chaotic, as if swept by a storm, leaving behind a scene of disarray. By the state of this body, he is nearly three and a half years old. Luckily, even without sufficient nutrient fluid, his growth hasn't lagged, all thanks to his daily persistence in training.
Roland is very happy.
In short, his talent is quite good.
