Honing His Skills
Inside the wooden house.
Chen Mobai flung the bowl in his hand, and the water inside immediately spilled out. Then he opened his mouth and exhaled, and a wisp of air shimmered with white light the moment it left his mouth.
"Snap!"
The sound of water freezing echoed in his ears. Chen Mobai looked at the icy water droplets in front of him, endured the swelling and pain in his throat, and reached out to catch the ice flower that he had painstakingly created.
The icy touch made his palms turn red, but he felt happier than ever before.
After seven whole days, he finally mastered this "Ice Spell".
Actually, he had already succeeded once three days ago. But it wasn't until now that he was able to succeed 100%, completely grasping that delicate moment when the "Ice Breath" was about to be completed.
He crushed the ice flower in his hand into powder, then laughed happily.
Never before had he felt such a sense of accomplishment as mastering the "Ice Spell".
After laughing, a wave of fatigue washed over him. This was due to his overuse of his Spiritual Sense these past few days, constantly focusing on the condensation process of the Ice Breath from the Twelve Layers of the Tower.
Chen Mobai didn't try to cheer himself up anymore. He finished the last bottle of pear syrup on the table and lay down on the wooden bed to sleep.
When I woke up, it was already the afternoon of the next day.
However, after a thorough rest, Chen Mobai felt that he was in better condition than ever before. Not only his Spiritual Sense, but even his Qi Cultivation Seventh Layer cultivation had improved.
He pulled his schoolbag from under his pillow, opened it, and saw 25 Spirit Stone inside that shone brightly, making him beam with joy.
In seven days, while practicing his Ice Spell, Chen Mobai also sold off most of the low- to mid-level Talisman he had acquired from Earth Origin Star. He then exchanged all the gold he earned for Spirit Stone at the silver shop run by the Divine Wood Sect on Green Light Island.
In his backpack, besides the 25 Spirit Stone, there were also 30 low-to-mid-grade Talisman he had saved for himself. After all, he was about to leave Green Light Island to hone his Spell Duel skills against Demon Beast, and he couldn't afford to use top-grade Talisman every time he fought; that would be too extravagant.
After checking his equipment again, Chen Mobai sat cross-legged on the bed for the whole night until dawn. Then he got up, left his wooden house, and went to the dock.
Since it was his first time Spell Duel against Demon Beast, he really didn't have much experience, so he cleverly joined a group.
While selling Talisman, he also inquired about the situation on Green Light Island and discovered that the Divine Wood Sect even had sect missions to guide newly initiated disciples in adapting to the Cloud Dream Marsh. In order to maximize profits, these senior disciples of the sect who accepted the missions would not only guide the newly initiated disciples but also bring along some newly arrived Rogue Cultivator groups.
Chen Mobai was always cautious. After receiving this news, he specifically compared several senior disciples of the Divine Wood Sect who specialized in taking on such missions, and finally chose someone whose reputation was neither high nor low.
"Qi Hou, I'm late."
Chen Mobai thought he had arrived early enough, but he didn't expect that the disciple of the Divine Wood Sect had arrived even earlier.
"Yes, it's not too late."
Qi Hou was a man of few words. He was tall and thin, but his eyes were bright and piercing. He stood on a Spirit Boat wearing a long black robe.
This is also a Magic Artifact. It can travel a hundred miles with just one Spirit Stone, and its speed is not slow. For Qi Cultivation Cultivator, it can save spiritual energy when traveling.
Besides Chen Mobai, there was also a handsome young man in the Divine Wood Sect uniform on the Spirit Boat. He was looking down at a picture book and should be the new disciple that Qi Hou was going to take on this time.
After greeting Qi Hou, Chen Mobai paid a fee of 2 Spirit Stone, which the latter accepted quickly. Then, pointing to a spot on the left side of the Spirit Boat, he gave Chen Mobai another identical picture book.
"This is the Demon Beast we're going to hunt today, the Black Armored Turtle. This kind of Demon Beast excels in defense and doesn't have many offensive methods, making it most suitable for you new Rogue Cultivator and disciples."
Upon hearing this, Chen Mobai nodded in agreement and began looking at the carefully prepared picture book.
After waiting a while, two more Rogue Cultivator arrived. They seemed to be siblings, as they looked somewhat alike. The male cultivator was named Ba Jiang, and the female cultivator was named Ba Xing. After they paid their Spirit Stone, the group was complete.
Qi Hou immediately activated the Spirit Boat, and this waterborne Magic Artifact shot away from the dock of Green Light Island like an arrow.
"Fellow Daoists, please take good care of me later."
Ba Jiang is a seemingly honest young man. He and his sister Ba Xing come from a Cultivating Family in the Ba Kingdom. They are quite famous locally. At a young age, he has already Qi Cultivation Level 6 Refining, which is considered exceptionally talented.
He and his sister came out together this time to seek an opportunity to break through to the Late Qi Cultivation, and also to gain experience and broaden their horizons in the Cloud Dream Marsh, a Holy Land in the Eastern Wasteland.
The delicate-looking disciple from the Divine Wood Sect seemed unwilling to engage, keeping his head down and staring at the picture book without uttering a word.
Chen Mobai immediately took over the conversation, exchanging a few polite words to prevent Ba Jiang from remaining awkward. However, he wasn't a talkative person to begin with, and Qi Hou, as the leader, remained silent, so the Spirit Boat quickly fell quiet.
And so, they made their way to the island where the Black Armored Turtle lived.
"There are seven in total. I'll deal with the two strongest ones. Junior Brother Xi, you find one to practice on, and the three of you can work together to deal with the other four. I'll intervene if there's any danger."
Qi Hou put away the Spirit Boat, and the five of them landed on the shore. They saw two large turtles lying on the beach, poking their heads out and staring at them coldly with their scarlet eyes.
"The five little ones are in the water, you can go now."
As the Qi Hou spoke, he reached out and grabbed a Talisman, infusing it with spiritual power. Instantly, two large fireballs appeared out of thin air and crashed down on the two giant tortoises.
Although the refined disciple of the Divine Wood Sect didn't talk much, he was extremely fast. He patted the bag at his waist, and a Green Wood Sword flew out, slashing at a Black Armored Turtle that had just emerged from the water with a cold light.
Chen Mobai took a closer look and realized that this young man surnamed Xi seemed to be less skilled than himself.
However, he immediately focused all his attention on the four Black Armored Turtle that emerged from the water. Ba Jiang and Ba Xing cleverly dealt with one each, leaving Chen Mobai to face two alone.
He cursed inwardly, but since Chen Mobai had come with the intention of honing his Spell Duel skills, he didn't immediately call for Qi Hou's help.
He first took out a stack of Talisman, then activated his Spiritual Sense. The bottle of Black Water in his sleeve opened, the Water Element Shield was activated, and spiritual power surged from his dantian to the Twelve Layers of the Tower. The Ice Spell was also eager to be used...
In the evening, after returning to Green Light Island, Chen Mobai bid farewell to the group of people who disembarked from the Spirit Boat.
The young man surnamed Xi kept his head down, didn't even say hello, and left with Qi Hou after binding the seven Black Armored Turtle corpses with a wooden magic Magic Artifact. The spoils of the hunt belonged to both of them, and it was also a sect mission of the Divine Wood Sect.
Qi Hou had a triple win on this trip, earning a hefty amount of Spirit Stone Sect Contribution.
Ba Jiang wanted to invite Chen Mobai for a drink, seemingly hoping to make his acquaintance, but the latter was in a hurry to find the next group from the Divine Wood Sect to train new recruits, so he politely declined.
For the next ten days, Chen Mobai rested one day and spent the other day with the tour group.
Gradually, he went from being flustered and clumsy at the beginning, using Talisman haphazardly, and having slow spells, to becoming more and more adept.
