The spatial passage was blown apart at the final moment. Those octopus-like creatures pouring out of it lost their source and were swiftly wiped out by the military.

If not for the armor he had enhanced with the system blocking the fatal blow at the critical moment, coupled with his vitality far beyond that of an ordinary person holding out against the injuries, he might not even have had a chance to retreat.
After returning to the rear base, he was treated by the healers immediately.
The healers used regenerative agents and biological repair fluid to mend his damaged organs, then fitted his bones with stabilizing braces.
Lying on the hospital bed, he gritted his teeth and endured the numb, aching sensation of his broken bones growing back when he suddenly remembered something.
"Where's Gavin?" He abruptly sat up, wrenching a sharp pain through his chest.
A logistics soldier beside him jumped in fright and stammered, "You mean Colonel Gavin? He... he was also seriously injured in that battle. He's still being rescued in the treatment room."
Jack's expression changed, and he rolled over to get out of bed.
Gavin had been pushed into the emergency room. One could only imagine how badly he had been hurt.
Jack's first thought was that if Gavin's injuries were too severe, he could use the system to heal him.
