He only ever let loose with Ji Xinyan and Nangong Shu around. Most of the time, he was a serious person. Even with Xia Hongyao, someone he'd trust with his life, he was careful about what he said and did.
Tang Qing entered the bedroom, glanced around, set the plate of soup dumplings on the table, then flopped down onto the bed and sat there.
"Baici, your bedroom is even cleaner than mine!"
Tang Qing lifted the pillow and checked underneath, but found nothing.
"I just got back yesterday and only stayed one night. Of course it's clean."
Lin Baici went to rummage through his backpack.
"When was the last time I came into your room? When you were in your first year of high school?"
Tang Qing bounced down hard on the bed, testing the springiness of the mattress.
"Yeah, the first semester. You asked me to help write your résumé!"
Lin Baici laughed. He remembered it clearly. "How was I supposed to know how to do that?"
He'd found a template online and copied it.
"You promised to treat me to malatang, but I had to wait two months before you finally did!"
"Because I didn't get the job! I didn't have any money."
Tang Qing pouted. "I worked odd jobs for two months, and the first thing I did when I'd saved up enough was treat you to malatang. Wasn't I a good big sister?"
"Of course you were!"
Lin Baici saw a flicker of gloom and regret in Tang Qing's eyes, and immediately stopped himself from bringing it up again.
His mother had told him that Tang Qing had been badly shaken when she failed to get that job. After that, she'd come to
