A Relaxing Holiday!

"You're so wasteful, spending money on all sorts of things!"

Li Guiru had never thought about herself. Her whole heart was devoted to Lin Baici.

Lin Baici hurried back to his room, rummaged through his backpack for the two presents he'd prepared, then ran back to the kitchen.

"Mom, wash your hands and open your presents first!"

Lin Baici waved the boxes at her.

They were wrapped in colored paper, each finished with a red ribbon tied into a bow. They looked quite festive.

Ji Xinyan had wrapped them.

"I'll open them after I finish making the dumplings!"

Li Guiru still had to go to work in a bit.

"Come on, Mom!"

Lin Baici urged her on. He knew she was worried about running out of time and being late for work. "You can always take the day off!"

Li Guiru knew how much the presents meant to her son and didn't want to dampen his spirits, so she washed her hands and went back to the living room.

The two presents were already on the coffee table.

Lin Baici extended a hand in invitation.

Li Guiru looked at the two boxes, one large and one small, then picked up the smaller one first.

"I can open it, right?"

"I bought it for you!"

Lin Baici urged his mom to hurry up and open it.

Li Guiru carefully untied the bow and unwrapped the paper.

"You can just tear it open!"

Lin Baici couldn't help laughing. Mom, you're being way too careful!

Li Guiru ignored him. She planned to keep the box in good condition, too.

Beneath the colored paper was a red box about the size of her palm.

Snap!

Li Guiru opened it. Inside lay a gleaming gold bangle. It had no design, but looked substantial and elegant.
