The place where National Defense Pokémon Technology University raised Porygon was vastly different from the Breeding Houses for other Pokémon.

Rather than a Breeding House, it looked more like a high-tech computer room.

Still, such an environment was perfectly normal. After all, a Pokémon's living environment needed to suit its species' traits.

As a Pokémon that lived in electronic space and could only carry out basic actions according to its programming, Porygon's training and care methods differed greatly from those of other Pokémon.

Put simply, other Pokémon more or less had minds of their own, but Porygon had no thoughts. Fundamentally, it was much like virtual girlfriend software.

Its every action, line of speech, and move routine was all programmed data.

That made this kind of Pokémon very easy to train and raise, because they would not disobey orders or throw tantrums.

At the same time, however, Pokémon like Porygon were extremely rigid.

They could not perform actions or use abilities that were not in their programming. Compared to other Pokémon, as Artificial Pokémon, they only knew how to obey commands.

Of course, trainers on Earth did not know that Porygon were Artificial Pokémon. They only knew that Porygon were very unusual.

For a time, the Academic World had even debated whether Porygon could be considered living creatures.

After all, other Pokémon more or less had thoughts of their own, but newborn Porygon without behavioral data programmed into them were no different from a blade of grass or a stone by the roadside, like inanimate objects.

If Porygon could not breed with Ditto, breeders might have stripped them of their Pokémon status...
