Arc 17Journey to Dragon Island

After recovering Infernape and testing his team, Fang Yuan trained Gluttony Ghost and Milotic while preparing to enter the Dragon Den. He helped defend Binhai City from a Water-type Pokémon siege, then arrived at Dragon Island with Yun Guancheng to face the Dragon Den trial.

  • Fang Yuan withdrew from the Fighting Tournament to treat Infernape, then trained it toward Thunder Flame Mode and held a team tournament that ranked Eevee first and Milotic last.

Arc 18Dragonite and the Assessment

Fang Yuan earned Dragon Island’s trust, took in the sleepwalking Dragonite Messenger, and trained his team while preparing for the National Competition and Professional Trainer Assessment. The stretch ended as he entered the assessment battle with Eevee against Examiner Jin’s Steelix.

  • Fang Yuan and Yun Guancheng reached Dragon Island’s Dragon-type clans, impressed the Pokémon with Espeon’s Psychic Wave, and agreed to prove themselves in clan trials after the Ten Thousand Dragons Dance Together.
  • Fang Yuan discovered that the Dragonite Messenger suffered from sleepwalking combat syndrome, defeated it in its sleepwalking state with his team, and captured it after promising to help it.

There, he negotiated with powerful Grass-type Pokémon, helped cure their confusion, and discovered Awakening Fruits that revealed new powers in his team, including a dangerous Dark Aura in Dragonite’s sleepwalking state.

  • Fang Yuan returned to Flat City, declined Zhou Shan’s invitation to First Police Academy, and prepared for the Fifth Gate and the National Competition.
