Cunning Wolf

Li Wei had only managed to craft three Wooden Arrows without feathers and two Wolf Fang Arrows. The former were fine, but the latter were troublesome to make, as he lacked experience.

However, Penny came over to inspect them and pointed out many deficiencies, including his cutting techniques.

"These few are almost there. Practice with them first and get a feel for it."

Penny enthusiastically set up a simple target for Li Wei. He walked twenty paces away and, by the firelight, clumsily nocked a featherless Wooden Arrow onto the string. But Penny immediately pointed out some subtle errors; she seemed to know a lot about this, even though she didn't appear to be a hunter.

After shooting seven or eight arrows continuously like this, Li Wei gradually grasped the essentials and finally hit the target precisely on his eleventh shot.

It was during the process of shooting this arrow that he felt the intangible boost from the One-Star Hunter Card.

Yes, he could easily control his heartbeat and breathing, especially when slowly drawing the bow. This feeling was particularly pronounced.

Penny picked up a Wooden Spear. Wolf howls could be heard constantly outside the camp. Some wolves even tried to climb over the fence. This was blatant harassment tactics, unsolvable.

But now, their family was not yet capable of engaging in a decisive battle with the wolf pack, so they could only endure it.

Li Wei understood this point very well. He nodded and took his Hunting Bow and a Wooden Spear back to his room to rest. He had to ensure he had the fullest Stamina; he was the main force now.

He slept soundly again that night, dreaming peacefully, undisturbed even by the wolf howls throughout the night.

Not only Phila and Penny but Li Wei himself found it amazing. He didn't know he possessed such talent.

At this thought, he climbed up using a simple ladder. This must have been made by Penny last night. It wasn't very stable but was very useful.

If he were to shoot arrows, he would have a wider field of vision.

"Perhaps in the future, I can build an arrow tower?"

An unrealistic thought flashed through Li Wei's mind. Just then, he seemed to hear a sound. His heart stirred slightly, and he pretended not to notice, continuing to look around from the ladder, even deliberately leaning out halfway. In his mind, he was rapidly simulating and practicing.

A few seconds later, a gray wolf emerged from the grass not far away and charged over arrogantly. It leaped up outside the fence, just short of reaching the top of the fence. Li Wei could even clearly see the sheen of its fangs in the sunlight!

So damn arrogant!

But Li Wei was prepared. He steadied his feet, lowered his waist, and at the moment the gray wolf leaped, he drew his bow and nocked an arrow. Although it wasn't smooth yet, it was a target delivered right to his doorstep.

Li Wei didn't even need to aim precisely. In an instant, the Wolf Fang Arrow pierced the gray wolf's throat.

But almost at the same time, a gust of foul wind swept over. Li Wei caught a glimpse of a dark figure out of the corner of his eye. Before he could react, he was hit by a powerful force, losing his balance and tumbling over the fence!

However, at this critical moment, Li Wei decisively let go of the Hunting Bow, grabbed the fence, and used all his strength to spring back, falling heavily to the ground. Cold sweat poured down his body like a waterfall, his heart pounded, and his mind went blank for a few seconds!

Damn it!

He had set a trap for the gray wolf, but he hadn't expected to be the mantis being preyed upon by the cicada.

That black Wolf King was too cunning!

"George! Are you alright!"

Hearing the commotion, Penny and Phila rushed out. Seeing Li Wei sitting on the ground, covered in sweat, his face pale and disheveled, they were both startled.

"I'm fine. I shot a gray wolf dead, but I was almost snatched away by that black wolf. And I lost my Hunting Bow. That guy seems to have gained sentience."

Li Wei said, still shaken.

"Yes, I also feel that this black Wolf King recognizes bows and arrows. Sam was killed by it using this same trick before – luring the enemy from the front and ambushing from behind. It's simply too cunning."

Penny said with a grave expression. She then climbed the ladder, only to see that outside the fence, apart from a fresh pool of wolf blood, there wasn't a single wolf in sight. As for the Hunting Bow, it had been torn apart and smashed.

What a cunning beast!

However, it wasn't a big problem.

In fact, it could be said to be a good thing, because this was already the third wolf Li Wei had killed so far.

Penny looked at Li Wei with anticipation.

Li Wei understood her gaze. Although he couldn't say it directly, he indirectly asked, "Sister, can you make me another Hunting Bow?"

"No problem. Can we have the decisive battle tonight?" Penny gave a affirmative response. A Hunting Bow was just a Hunting Bow; if she could make one, she could make a second one.

Even if it was free, even if it would make this competitor in front of him even stronger, and even if it might lead to him having the final say in the family from now on, so what? At the very least, it would ensure the quest was completed.

What's more, as a Professional Craftsman, her position in this family was indispensable.

In short, it was best to complete the Wolf Menace quest as soon as possible and get everything back on track.

Li Wei solemnly repeated, the Wolf Menace quest had brought him the greatest benefits, making him the biggest winner, so it was about time to end it.
