259: A Truly Gifted Young Talent, Making My Tactics Spin
After getting his first knife kill, Jiang Yang looked at the more than five thousand in his bank and smiled.
Getting the AWP he'd wanted most at the peak of his youth was just too good.
But he didn't pull out the Big Sniper.
It wasn't because he'd grown any less fond of it.
It was because the instincts of a "special forces soldier" were calling to him!
VG hadn't planted the bomb in the pistol round. Based on what he'd seen of VG in the first two rounds, they were sure to go for an ECO.
MO glanced at Jiang Yang's loadout and laughed. "Fine, go special forces on your own."
At that, Jiang Yang immediately charged toward A Bomb Site.
Meanwhile, in VG's voice chat.
259 gave the call: "Let's not rush this round. Just play default. My cousin's definitely going to push out and go special forces. That guy can't help himself!"
Still, he had to admit that his cousin really was good at going special forces.
On both of the previous maps, whenever VG ran out of money, his cousin had managed to come out and pick up a few kills.
As a result, every time they entered an ECO round now, they felt a lot of pressure.
Losing an ECO round wasn't a big deal, but Jiang Yang kept using those rounds to build up his economy, and that really annoyed them.
At the start of the round, they stayed in T-Spawn playing default for quite a while, but the other side still didn't make a move.
Seeing that they were running short on time, 259 spoke up: "Let's group up and try to gather at Iron Plate."
But the moment he said that, a Flashbang flew out of Yellow Room. 259 reacted quickly and turned away, but still caught sight of a little flyhead darting out.
At that moment, the line Jiang Yang had once used on stream while messing around seemed to ring in 259's ears.
"You guys... went ECO, right?"
Jiang Yang instantly killed him. His two nearby teammates rushed in to trade, but without armor, they were melted in an instant.
Jiang Yang pushed out and got three kills. The last two hurried into Yellow Room to trade, but DD was already there to back him up.
The ECO round ended in no time.
They'd been hit with an ACE in the economic round, and 259 was even more troubled.
Before meeting Jiang Yang, he hadn't thought much of players like Da Zhuang and Jiang Yang, who liked to go all-in during ECO rounds.
After all, getting kills by relying on superior weapons didn't seem like a real skill.
But after meeting Jiang Yang, 259 had genuinely changed his mind.
He realized that being good at going special forces really was a skill.
When Jiang Yang got kills in rounds like that, he could build up his economy quickly and then establish a weapon advantage in the rounds that mattered.
It was truly frustrating.
"Let's play it safe in the next Full Buy Round. Their Big Sniper's definitely coming out," 259 said helplessly.
Jiang Yang looked at his money, which had just passed the eight-thousand mark, and grinned.
That meant he could buy a sniper rifle for two rounds in a row. It couldn't get much better than that.
As they entered their first Full Buy Round, Jiang Yang ditched the MP9 and bought an AWP.
MO thought for a moment. "How about you take the AWP down below and hold the line, cousin? They've got all their utility this round. There's not much point in you going to Warehouse at the start."
It was their first Full Buy Round. If the other side planned to play Outer Site, they'd have all their utility.
Jiang Yang could only try to spam through the smoke with his AWP, which wouldn't do much.
If he went to K1, then unless the other side pre-aimed and killed him, just killing one would buy enough time for the others to rotate back.
"Steel Helmet's setup looks pretty good here. The AWP's going down below to hold the line. They're only leaving someone at Main Entrance and Third Floor to cover Outer Site, with the focus entirely on defending Inner Site."

"VG's second timing sees another round of standard Line Smokes at Outer Site. They send one player down K1, but leave two up top. Looks like this round's going to come down to a gunfight between DD at Big Warehouse and the attackers!"
DD was holding a tucked-away position inside Big Warehouse, watching Main Entrance.
With the attackers pushing Outer Site at this speed, a fight was bound to come his way.
Ma Xixi was watching DD through the X-ray, eager to see how he'd do, but the sound of an AWP shot had already rung out from below.
"Bang!"

"My cousin's got the first kill of the round. His AWP still makes you feel so safe!" Ma Xixi beamed.
On this Steel Helmet team, Jiang Yang had become the undisputed big brother.
Watching the match from the observer's perspective, as long as Jiang Yang was alive, they believed he could get a kill. Even if all five opponents came looking for him, their first thought was still whether Jiang Yang could take two or three with him.
Jiang Yang got the opening kill below, while DD engaged the attacker probing Main Entrance from Warehouse.

The kill appeared in the top right, and DD immediately called it out in voice chat. "They're coming through Main Entrance. Liu Ke, watch out!"
Hearing that, MO, who was at Inner Site, hurriedly threw a Main Entrance smoke to delay the attack.
"But VG aren't planning to push into Inner Site here! They've grouped up and gone straight to Third Floor!"
"Xiaosage is coming around from Iron Plate to flank Third Floor. Do you see him?"
"Got him! He takes one down, then gets traded!"
Jiang Yang rotated back from Iron Plate. He knew MO was under a lot of pressure alone at Inner Site.
But there were players above Third Floor, and he didn't dare move recklessly. He could only hold his AWP and keep an eye on the upper level.
He was wary of someone coming to challenge him from above, but MO, near Pipe, had already engaged the players on Third Floor.
At the sound of gunfire, Jiang Yang immediately started climbing up to Third Floor.
If the other side killed MO and then held Third Floor, he'd have no chance.
He kept his AWP ready as he climbed quickly, making no effort to hide his footsteps. But when he reached the top, he spotted something unexpected: there wasn't just one attacker on Third Floor. There were two.
The moment Jiang Yang climbed up, he saw an attacker holding an AK and aiming at him.
There was no time to climb back down. Jiang Yang could only press the left mouse button on instinct.
"Bang!"

But he was still busy playing. That shot had hit almost by accident, and the result gave him a pleasant surprise. Hanging from the ladder, he pulled back the bolt again.
As soon as the AWP was ready, he swung up.
He fired at the attacker on Third Floor, who was turning around.
"Bang!"

Ma Xixi was finding the match harder and harder to understand.
The thing was, in CS:GO, shots were wildly inaccurate while you were hanging on a ladder.
But whether it was S1mple's noscope at Cologne or Jiang Yang's two shots while hanging from the ladder on Third Floor today, both were insane.
And they were both noscopes!
After getting two kills, Jiang Yang quickly climbed onto Third Floor. Just then, the Main Entrance smoke cleared, revealing a figure inside.
Jiang Yang snapped his aim over.

Ma Xixi shook his head. "My cousin's still the best. Without him, Steel Helmet would fall apart!"

Then the viewers saw the screen freeze. VG had called a tactical timeout.
What else could they do? 259 was at a loss.
The other side had every detail nailed down, and that gifted young player had somehow broken the round open with noscopes from the ladder.
How were they supposed to play against that?
259 felt something subtle shift in his mindset.
