Gao Jun rubbed his nose and gave an awkward, unhappy smile. He noticed the sunglasses Su Yuan had set on the table and snatched them up as if he'd found a new toy, putting them on. "Nice shades. How about you let me borrow them for a few days?"
"Sure, but don't break them."
"Relax, I won't break them!"
Watching Gao Jun strike a pose in her sunglasses, Su Yuan shook her head helplessly. She took out the pair of plain glasses and hurried to the bathroom mirror to try them on.
The clumsy, old-fashioned frames perched on her nose, hiding nearly half her face. Her delicate features seemed to have suffered a gross injustice; the glasses had thoroughly ruined her overall look.
Everything about them seemed off, yet she couldn't put her finger on what was wrong.
"Oh!!"
Su Yuan exclaimed in admiration. Her bright eyes sparkled like stars behind the lenses, but from the front, all anyone saw was an utterly ordinary face. Apart from her fair, smooth skin, nothing about her would make anyone want a second look.
"Now that's what I call turning something wonderful into something awful. This is brilliant." Feeling pleased with herself in the plain glasses, Su Yuan sauntered out of the bathroom.
Gao Jun was busy showing off and looking cool. When he saw Su Yuan's dowdy getup, he was so surprised he took off his sunglasses. "Su Yuan, where did you get those glasses?"
"What do you think? Not bad, right?" Su Yuan lifted her chin and struck a pose.
"Not bad? Your taste's gone downhill."
"Hmph!"
Su Yuan was annoyed by that remark. Sure, she was trying to make herself look ugly, but who was he to criticize her? She muttered unhappily, "Tch! My taste isn't hurting you, is it?"
