Forty-six Heavenly Venerates took their seats in the main assembly area. Behind them sat over a hundred True Lords nominated by the various sects. They were primarily there to listen and could not contribute to the deliberations; their attendance merely afforded the second-tier sects some dignity.
Fang Mo occupied the seat of honor, with Mu Cangming and Xuan Qing seated immediately below him. Those two represented the Tianli Sect on the Elder Council.
Next came Jian Yue and Qiu Kongshan of one of the seven superpowers. Their expressions were stern. They had been driven onto the perch like reluctant ducks, and felt rather disgruntled.
The Sword Soul Sect's representatives were the two Heavenly Venerates, Jian Shan and Kun Yu. Neither looked pleased either.
Fang Mo paid no attention to their expressions. His gaze swept across the gathering as he went straight to the point. "Everyone here was nominated by your sect to join the Heavenly Way Alliance's Elder Council. The forty-six Heavenly Venerates present will become its elders!"
He waved a hand, and staff immediately stepped forward to place a tablet before each person. Even the nonvoting delegates received one.
