Ch. 21Martial Arts Powers
Plot and key events
At the Qin Family residence, Qin Lang learns that Yang Jihua and his companions have found Fang Mo. Angry that Fang Mo continues claiming to be Qin Muxue’s brother-in-law, Qin Lang leaves to confront him, hoping to protect his sister’s reputation. Qin Muxue warns him not to cause trouble and orders a guard to follow him. She then prepares to accompany Senior Sister Luo, the youngest Grandmaster Realm expert on the Home Planet, to Yunkong Martial Academy.
Meanwhile, at Tiger Might Martial Arts School, Fang Mo completes a breakthrough in his Tiger Subduing Fist, reaching elementary mastery. The Bronze Mirror in his mind confirms the advancement, while the resulting enlightenment strengthens his understanding, physique, meridians, and stamina. He continues training and gains additional proficiency before lunch.
During the meal, the students discuss Xiongying Martial Arts School’s challenge to every martial arts hall in Yunyang. Ding Zhiyuan explains that its master comes from the powerful Eagle Claw Sect, one of the Eight Gates. He then gives Fang Mo an overview of the martial arts hierarchy and major factions.
Character developments
- Fang Mo grows stronger through disciplined training, achieving a significant breakthrough in his fist technique and becoming increasingly aware of the vast martial arts world. Though curious about higher realms and the Martial Academies, he remains focused on first reaching the Bright Force stage.
- Qin Lang is shown to be impulsive, defensive of his sister, and concerned with family honor. His resentment toward Fang Mo drives him toward a likely confrontation.
- Qin Muxue appears disciplined and accomplished, having been specially recruited by Yunkong Martial Academy. Despite her pride and ambition, she is concerned about Qin Lang’s recklessness and tries to control the situation.
- Ding Zhiyuan acts as Fang Mo’s knowledgeable senior brother, patiently educating him and encouraging him to pursue a Martial Academy and possibly a military career.
Martial arts world and themes
The chapter expands the setting’s power structure. Martial realms progress from Bright Force and Dark Strength through Hua Jin, Dan Jin, Gang Force, and ultimately the Heavenly Human Realm. Above ordinary sects stand the One Sect, Three Academies, Five Sects, and Eight Gates, while the twelve super Martial Academies operate under the Galactic Federation and influence both government and military affairs.
Major themes include the contrast between personal ambition and institutional power, the value of disciplined self-improvement, and the dangers of reputation, pride, and impulsive action. The chapter also emphasizes how limited Fang Mo’s previous knowledge was and hints at the enormous opportunities and dangers awaiting him.
Character interactions
Qin Lang and Qin Muxue clash over his plan to confront Fang Mo, revealing both his hostility and her protective authority as his elder sister. At Tiger Might Martial Arts School, Fang Mo relies on Ding Zhiyuan for guidance, asking sincere questions about the Eagle Claw Sect, martial realms, and elite organizations. Their conversation strengthens Fang Mo’s connection to the wider martial arts community while foreshadowing future conflicts involving Xiongying Martial Arts School and Qin Lang.
