Lin Taichu and Aron sat on the wooden dock, staring toward the island, their brows never relaxing.
"Do you think Snake Woman hid the sea beasts underground?" Aron suddenly asked.
Lin Taichu thought for a moment. "It's possible. The Dark Sea Organization had underground spaces in both the abandoned warehouse and the shipyard. This island might have them too."
"Snake Woman must have prepared long ago. She knew we might come, so she dug underground passages in advance to hide the sea beasts."
"Should we send someone in to investigate?" Aron asked.
Lin Taichu shook his head. "No. The traps on the island haven't all been cleared, and we don't know where the underground passages are. Sending people in recklessly would make it easy for us to walk into an ambush. The safest course now is to hold the dock and wait for them to reveal a weakness."
Lin Taichu and Aron guarded the dock until afternoon, but the island remained silent. The guards rotated shifts, every one of them watching the island without daring to relax for even a moment.
A few guards could not help muttering, "It's been so long. Where are Snake Woman and those sea beasts hiding? Did they really escape?"
Hearing this, Aron frowned and shook his head. "Impossible. We've locked down the dock completely, and there are reefs all around the island. Other than the two small boats at the dock, no other boats can get in or out."
"Besides, we stationed sentries all around the island, and they report in every hour. If anyone or any sea beast tried to leave from somewhere else, they would definitely be spotted."
Lin Taichu agreed with Aron. He knew Snake Woman and the sea beasts had not escaped. They had to still be on the island.
