"Get out of the way!" Lin Taichu shouted as he hurled his trident at the sea serpent.
The trident struck the sea serpent's scales, leaving only a shallow mark and failing to injure it at all.
Enraged by the trident, the sea serpent abandoned the guards and turned to pounce on Lin Taichu. Lin Taichu hurriedly backed away, but the stone chamber was too small, and he soon found himself against the wall.
The sea serpent's head slammed into the wall, shaking the entire stone chamber as rocks rained down from above.
Lin Taichu seized the chance to dodge aside. The sea serpent's head grazed his arm as it passed, and even the gust it kicked up reeked of fishy rot.
"We can't stay here. Get out, now!" Lin Taichu shouted at the guards, then took the lead in running out of the stone chamber. The guards came to their senses and followed him outside.
Seeing them flee, the sea serpent followed. Outside the chamber was the hall from before, where several sea beasts were still tearing at one another. When they saw the sea serpent emerge, they stopped fighting and turned to look at it.
Before the sea beasts could react, the sea serpent charged over and swallowed them one by one. In no time, it had devoured every sea beast in the hall.
After eating them, the sea serpent seemed to grow another size larger. It whipped its tail, cracking the rock walls of the entire hall and sending stones crashing down.
Lin Taichu led the guards toward the cave exit. Just as they reached the entrance, a tremendous crash sounded outside.
He poked his head out, and his heart sank—the former black market district had become a field of ruins.
