Dao Lord Taichu had rested enough. He picked up Bai Ling'er and continued on their journey. Bai Ling'er held a little white rabbit, looking like Chang'e, the fairy maiden from the heavens—utterly captivating.
As they flew along, Bai Ling'er spotted an enormous lake and insisted on going down to take a look. Dao Lord Taichu brought her down to admire it.
"Wow! What a huge lake! And it's blue! I've never seen such a beautiful place before."
Bai Ling'er cried out loudly, running across the sandy shore like an innocent child.
It had been a long time since he had seen Ling'er this happy. Ever since she had followed Dao Lord Taichu, her life had been nothing but fighting and killing. Seeing her return to how she used to be left him both saddened and delighted.
The scenery here was pleasant. Nearby waves rolled onto the beach from time to time, chasing and playing with one another, crashing against the reefs with bursts of cheerful sound, as though welcoming Dao Lord Taichu and Bai Ling'er. Dao Lord Taichu leaned against a coconut tree, savoring the comfort and beauty of the moment.
Seeing Dao Lord Taichu lying there in the sun, Bai Ling'er hurried over and said:
"Husband, when we grow old, let's build a house here and enjoy our later years in peace, all right?"
Seeing Bai Ling'er's sincere expression, Dao Lord Taichu did not refuse. He agreed immediately.
Yet in his heart, he had no idea how long the future would last. Perhaps one day, he would simply die.
Watching Bai Ling'er run happily along the shore, he joined her in chasing and playing, savoring this fleeting happiness.
