Background

Xiao Yao transmigrated to the Dou Qi Continent fifteen years before the events of the story. He awakened memories of a prior life on Earth at age three; the fusion of his two souls gave him unusually powerful soul strength and exceptional cultivation talent. He is Xiao Yan's clan brother and initially intended to seize the opportunities surrounding Xiao Yan's rise for himself. 1

After defending Xiao Yan during Nalan Yanran's visit, Xiao Yao sought apprenticeship under Old Man Yao but was rejected for lacking a wood attribute. His resolve to control his own fate activated the Heaven-Defying Fate System, which rewards him with Destiny Points for altering predetermined events. 1 2
