Lu Bai survived the zombie outbreak, hunted rival deathmatchers, and entered a military shelter to find the survivors from his school group. When a deathmatcher named Cui Qing began killing people inside the shelter, Lu Bai killed him but concealed his role from Zhou Zongming.

Lu Bai pursued the vaccine and became entangled in the chaos surrounding the Research Center, where rival deathmatcher teams fought over the Node. After surviving the center’s destruction and confronting Duan Jianhui, Lu Bai acquired the Node and faced a new wave of attackers.

• Agu offered Lu Bai a vaccine in exchange for a top-ten finish, and Lu Bai agreed to help retrieve it from the Research Center.
• Lu Bai’s attempt to enter the Research Center exposed Agu’s plan, and Agu injected himself with the vaccine, which the System declared a Node.
• Zombies overwhelmed parts of the shelter, and Lu Bai reunited with Wu Ya, Ke Jiangni, Tian Wang, and Guo Mi before Guo Mi attacked him and Lu Bai killed her.
• Xiao Xueyin recruited Lu Bai into his team, and they hunted deathmatchers near the Research Center as the Survey Corps drew fighters into a battle there.
• The Research Center exploded and collapsed, killing many contestants, while Lu Bai chose the Flash Time ability and joined the surviving fighters in confronting the Survey Corps and Ten Blades.

Lu Bai won the first Deathmatch Showdown, secured vaccine research, and returned to a world where he investigated his past and trained for the next round. In the second arena, he rescued Yao Yi from a parasitic monster and reached Jiangyu County, where he faced more creatures inhabiting elderly people.

• Lu Bai fought through the Deathmatch Arena factions, killed Fei Xiao and the other attackers, rescued Xiao Xueyin, and escaped the exploding Administrative Building with his companions.
• Lu Bai killed Duan Jianhui after Yaluo exposed him, survived Yaluo and Fischer's attempt to take the Node, and helped deliver the experiment data that advanced the vaccine research.
• After the system ended the Deathmatch Showdown, Lu Bai returned ranked first with 102 points and chose to keep Flash Time as his reward.
• Lu Bai learned about the Underground Cities and the Deathmatch System, trained in multiple fighting styles, and entered the second Deathmatch Showdown.
• In a hot-air balloon, Lu Bai used Flash Time and Long Fang to defeat Wang Ting's monster form, though a fragment of the parasite remained inside Yao Yi.

Lu Bai joined the Special Affairs Bureau and hunted Parasitic Organisms while suspecting Mayor Shi Huairen of orchestrating attacks and a campaign against him. After a hospital siege left Yao Yi injured and several attackers dead, Changhu escaped, and Lu Bai and Xu Qiang faced an uneasy joint investigation with the police.

• Lu Bai joined the Special Affairs Bureau, rescued victims from Parasitic Organisms, and accepted leadership of Field Team Three.
• Lu Bai found Peng Dan’s faction under attack at an abandoned fertilizer plant, but the Mayor of Jiangyu City’s subordinate killed Peng Dan before Lu Bai could reach her.
• Lu Bai escaped the Mayor’s gathered Parasitic Organisms and warned Yao Yi and Xu Qiang that Mayor Shi Huairen was likely one of them.
• Lu Bai killed Shi Fenglian, while Yao Yi was ambushed by Deathmatch contestants and revealed Wang Ting, the monster living inside him.
• Lu Bai killed Yao Yi’s attackers, then suspected the mayor was behind the online campaign targeting him and recognized Xiao Xueyin in hospital surveillance footage.
