Luther nodded as he spoke.

Leonard had his angelic old man, and Miss Daly could communicate with the dead. He would send them out to search while he tried something else himself.

"Luna."

After the two of them left the room, Luther called to the black cat in his shadow.

"Meow?"

A pair of blue feline eyes emerged from the ink-black shadow beneath him.

"Use your ability to help me divine where this fellow is right now."

As he spoke, Luther showed Luna a photograph. Naturally, the person in it was Ince Zangwill. In the photo,

he wore the robes of a priest of the Church of Evernight and had two intact eyes.

This was an internal Church document, recording all sorts of information about the traitor since he had joined the Church.

"Meow."

Luna meowed, climbed out of Luther's shadow, and jumped onto the dining table in the inn. It pressed one paw onto the photograph, then raised its head and solemnly meowed at the empty air.

Its black tail hung over the edge of the table, swaying back and forth as though it were an independent creature. It seemed to take the place of the pendulum an ordinary Seer would use.

Through this method, Luna could communicate with the Spirit World and obtain an answer.

Then its tail suddenly stopped.

"Meow?"

Immediately afterward, Luna made a puzzled sound, tilting its head
