Jin Lingfeng paid the Spirit Crystals without even looking, then handed the Fighting Insect pouch beside him to Ye Kang.
"The insect is his, and the money is his too. This has nothing to do with us."
Jin Lingfeng added that last part deliberately, making a clean break from the matter.
Perhaps he had seen this sort of thing too often; the Insect Fighting Manager wasn't the least bit surprised.
There were plenty of young masters like this in County City. Sons of County Governors, grandsons of Prefects—every one of them would get someone else to take the blame. They were simply afraid of getting caught by their families.
Though Fighting Insects were popular across a vast market, most parents strictly forbade their children from taking part.
Getting involved in this sort of gambling too early could derail their martial training. Worse still, some became so obsessed that they abandoned their families.
The Insect Fighting Manager respectfully cupped his hands toward Ye Kang. "Then I invite this young master to come down and take part in the Blood Battle after the Fighting Insect matches are over."
Ye Kang nodded, neither agreeing nor refusing.
This had been the unspoken understanding between him and Jin Lingfeng from the start. Jin Lingfeng provided the money and the insect, so Ye Kang ought to be the one to show his face.
Yin Xingtang, however, looked bewildered.
"You have a Fighting Insect?"
Ye Kang smiled faintly. "He's the Heir, after all. What doesn't he have?"
Disgust showed in Yin Xingtang's eyes. "Idle amusements ruin one's ambition. I've never had anything to do with such things, and I don't see how they could help with martial training."
Jin Lingfeng shook his head. "Just watch and see."
His deliberately enigmatic manner only made Yin Xingtang more curious.
