What the hell was that thing?

The thought surfaced in the Chaos Sorcerer's mind.

As a Chaos Sorcerer who had spent over a century immersed in the paths of the Warp, he had always believed he possessed exceptional insight. He certainly was not like those ignorant lackeys of the Corpse Emperor, who mistook every mundane phenomenon for the might of the gods.

But now, he was no longer so sure.

He had practically stared his eyes bloody just now, yet still could not figure out how that "thing" that looked like a mortal had managed to interfere with the Warp Rift.

Moreover, he had sensed no fluctuations from the Empyrean whatsoever. Whether the other party was even a Psyker—or even human—was difficult to say!

"McKnight! Stop spacing out and think of something!"

A War Band brother's roar reached the Chaos Sorcerer through the Vox Array Communication installed in his helmet, interrupting his thoughts.

Boom!

The Melta Bomb exploded, flashing with dazzling, searing white light.

Empowered by Rowan's Reality Warping Ability, the Melta Bomb—already powerful enough to destroy heavy vehicles—grew even more potent. Like a tiny sun rising indoors, it turned the two Chaos Astartes and their cover into gas, erasing them without a trace.

You and your cover make me laugh.jpg

Perhaps unable to accept such a humiliating death, the Chaos Astartes behind the next piece of cover poked their heads out before Rowan could set his sights on them, attempting to return fire.

Naturally, they fared no better, immediately reduced to free-floating molecules in the air by plasma bolts and melta beams.

The Chaos Sorcerer took a deep breath.

This could not go on.

Certain that his psychic power was insufficient to protect him from a barrage of this magnitude, the Chaos Sorcerer had no choice but to make a move he had once deeply despised—something he would never normally have done.

He reached into the drug case at his waist and forcefully injected himself with stimulants derived from certain Slaanesh rituals.

"Raaahhhoooooo!"

All manner of intense sensations surged into the Chaos Sorcerer's brain, making his body tremble as though he were being shaken apart. His formerly calm psychic power churned into a violent frenzy!

Praise the Lord of Pleasure! Praise the Empyrean! Praise this heavenly ecstasy!

In ecstatic delirium, he activated his spell. A sturdy psychic shield enveloped his entire body, and the explosive overflow of psychic energy even tore his cover apart—but he no longer cared in the slightest.

Bathed in the hail of bullets, the Chaos Sorcerer aimed at his target and unleashed a violent psychic spell. A pink gale swept forth, instantly tearing apart Rowan, who seemed unable to react...

...Had he been torn apart?

The Chaos Sorcerer's eyes widened as Rowan's shredded body slowly dissipated in the air.

A holographic projection?

Since when?

Only then did his brain, muddled by countless sensations of pleasure, realize that the Vox Array Communication had fallen completely silent at some unknown point.

Following his instincts, the Chaos Sorcerer slowly turned around and saw that enemy standing not far behind him, waving at him.

In that instant, his violent psychic power broke free of the Chaos Sorcerer's control like a runaway horse. Brilliant pink psychic flames surged into the air, burning his entire body to ashes.

"It's over."

Rowan withdrew his hand and rubbed his chin.

With the Machine Spirit in a state of great delight, the firearms could unleash their firepower automatically without needing to be controlled. This gave Rowan the chance to circle around behind them and quietly pick off the enemies hiding behind cover one by one.

As for why he had gone to so much trouble... a Level 2 Reality Warper had limits, both in the range their abilities could affect and in energy output. Rowan's current Hume level did not support such reckless expenditure.

In the Foundation's classification system, a Level 2 Reality Warper was rated only as "overwhelmingly advantaged when fighting ordinary humans." They could neither create physical phenomena like Micro Black Holes as Tier 3 Reality Warpers could, nor, like Level 4 ones, trample the laws of reality to freely create life, souls, or anomalous objects on a large scale.

If possible, Rowan naturally wished he could avoid all these twists and turns and simply wave a hand to annihilate every enemy in an instant.

Unfortunately, he could not.

"I hope I can get out of this predicament once my Reality Warping Ability improves."

Still, it should not be long now. After this battle, he had killed more than twenty Chaos Astartes, and the progress bar for collecting souls was already more than half full.

Before long, he should be able to break through into a realm he had never reached before.

This felt much better than the Foundation Universe. It seemed the Warhammer universe was not as terrible as he had imagined; it still had quite a few redeeming qualities.

As Rowan silently indulged in these fantasies, he walked over to the nameless Sister Superior lying on the ground.

He slowly extended a hand and activated his ability.

As though molding clay, he regrew the Sister Superior's missing limbs, repaired her damaged internal organs, restored her vitality, and reshaped her bones...

Soon, several minutes passed. Lucia, who had only just fallen unconscious, regained awareness, opened her eyes, rose from the ground, and looked around.

The once-arrogant Chaos Astartes had now become corpses strewn across the ground.

She briefly inspected her own body. She had been completely restored, as if she had never been injured at all.

Lucia focused her gaze on the young man before her.

To Rowan's surprise, Lucia, as a Sister Superior, straightened her body and voluntarily gave this man of unknown origin a standard Eagle Salute.

"I am Lucia Petrovich, Sister Superior of the Order of the Martyred Saint. Thank you for extending a helping hand, helping our Order wash away its humiliation and eliminate these blasphemous Heretics."

Such a good attitude?

Rowan froze slightly, clearly taken aback.

Ordinarily, the various Battle Sisters who believed in the Ecclesiarchy could hardly be called friendly toward illegal Psykers who dabbled in witchcraft. At best, they were eager to kill them on sight.

After all, Warhammer had no anomalous entities known as Reality Warpers. Even if Lucia had not witnessed the battle due to being unconscious, the deaths of those Chaos Astartes whom Rowan had picked off one by one with his abilities, coupled with his highly suspicious appearance, made a misunderstanding the most natural outcome.

Of course, as a Battle Sister, Lucia had her own interpretation.

The dazzling golden light radiating from the Young Man before she lost consciousness; her completely uninjured body upon waking; even the damaged Power Armor restored to its original condition; and the relic cross pendant on her chest, now emanating a warmth that seemed to seep deep into her soul...

There was no other explanation. This had to be the Divine Emperor's great power!

To be fair, the fact that she had not immediately dropped to her knees and begun praying was only because her strong sense of duty had barely allowed her to restrain herself.
