Background / History

Hanyu began as a rogue cultivator without family backing. After joining Qingyun Sect, she earned cultivation resources through monster hunting and demon-slaying; repeated battles damaged her Dao Foundation and affected her eventual core formation. She established Hanyu Peak, which had not existed among the sect’s peaks before her rise 338. During the Dao–Demon War, her high merit ranking earned her a Golden Core Pill 406.

For years, Hanyu and Lone Peak True Person had a poor relationship. Their rivalry sharpened when Shen Xuan, already Lone Peak’s disciple, exchanged sect merit for Hanyu’s Ice Soul Cold Water Art. Hanyu had offered the true transmission in hopes of finding a personal disciple and resented his taking it without joining her lineage 206 207 305.

After Shen Xuan demonstrated his Ice Method before the sect’s True Persons, Hanyu sought to teach him herself. Sect Leader Mizong resolved the dispute by allowing Shen Xuan to become her personal disciple while retaining his status as Lone Peak’s personal disciple—an unprecedented arrangement in Qingyun Sect 307 309.

Appearance

Hanyu is described as a frosty beauty whose bearing evokes an ice mountain snow lotus. She is typically composed and aloof, though her displeasure is readily visible 229 305.

Personality

Proud and quick-tempered, Hanyu does not readily yield when her disciple or lineage is challenged. Her dispute with Lone Peak brought them close to a magical confrontation, and she later opposed a council proposal that would have assigned Shen Xuan to the Spirit Pill Hall 206 207 432.

As a master, she is protective and generous with instruction. She spent her own Core Essence to improve Shen Xuan’s sword, supported his work and travels, and defended his interests in dealings with other True Persons 311 324 338 389. She also accepted the challenge of learning Water Method Alchemy when Shen Xuan proposed improving a pill recipe 401 406.

Hanyu is a Heterogeneous Spirit Root cultivator and an exceptional Ice Method specialist. Despite holding a True Core rather than a Golden Core, she has Golden Core-level combat power 204 338.
