Background

Yu Xiaogang was born into the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan as Yu Yuanzhen's youngest son. Despite expectations that he would inherit a powerful martial soul, he awakened the mutated Three-Eyed Demon Fox and possessed only half a rank of innate soul power. He continued cultivating with clan resources, reaching level 29 before becoming unable to advance further. 10 40

Seeking a way to prove himself, Xiaogang left the clan and traveled across the continent to study martial souls. During his travels, he befriended Flender and later Liu Erlong; the three gained renown as the Golden Iron Triangle. Xiaogang and Liu Erlong eventually married, but he fled after learning that she was his cousin, leaving their relationship unresolved for nearly twenty years. 47

He is intensely invested in building his reputation through theory and instruction. He sees Tang San as both a disciple and a means to validate his ideas, later taking credit for Tang San's successes despite many of those successes arising from Tang San's own abilities and opportunities. 41
