Background

Yumu was an ordinary, low-status member of the Hongyu Clan assigned to monitor Origin World No. 8. His duty was to ensure the growth of exceptional native cultivators—whom the Hongyu Clan called “Mayflies”—until clan geniuses arrived to harvest them. Failure could lead to severe punishment or death. Despite cultivating for millions of years, Yumu remained at the bottom of the clan, which he attributed to his low birth and lack of access to resources rather than a lack of talent. 620

When he discovered that a highest-quality Mayfly had disappeared from his assigned world, Yumu concealed the anomaly instead of reporting it. He secretly entered Origin World No. 8, intending to force-ripen its cultivators, harvest their power, and use the proceeds to reach the True Lord realm. He accepted that his actions could ruin the world’s future value to the Hongyu Clan. 620 622

Yumu is ambitious, resentful of his low standing, and convinced that greater resources would have made him a major figure in the Hongyu Clan. His fear of clan punishment drives his initial secrecy, while his desire to escape the lower strata drives his exploitation of Origin World No. 8. 620

He is arrogant toward Origin World natives, routinely treating them as disposable “Mayflies,” yet his confidence collapses when faced with superior force. After Shen Fan captures him, Yumu repeatedly resorts to deception, flattery, bargaining, and betrayal to preserve his life. 622 650 653

Yumu is also pragmatic and opportunistic. He blackmails Yuming for healing medicine, accepts cooperation when it benefits him, and ultimately defects from the Hongyu Clan when he judges that remaining would lead to punishment. 662 667 674

To overcome the alliance, Yumu creates late True Realm monster weapons from sacrificed natives. The monsters turn the war in his favor but ultimately draw the enemy’s strongest forces into a coordinated confrontation. 632 633 647

Cornered by multiple peak experts, Yumu uses Blood Burning and reaches an incomplete True Lord state. He devastates the opposition but suffers crippling backlash once the technique ends, allowing Shen Fan to ambush and capture him. 648 649

Shen Fan’s Captive and Guide

While captive, Yumu tries to deceive Shen Fan with a flawed inheritance, but is forced to provide the complete Blood Demon Scripture. He later bargains for his life by revealing information about the Sea of Worlds, the Supreme Rules, and the Hongyu Clan’s harvesting practices. 650 651 653 654

Yumu and Shen Fan establish a binding contract: Shen Fan spares Yumu, and Yumu will take him out of Origin World No. 8. Despite the contract, Yumu secretly restores his influence, cultivates Origin Beads, and plans to betray Shen Fan once an opportunity appears. 655 657

Betrayal, Escape, and Defection

Yumu contacts Yuming and lures Shen Fan into an attempted ambush. Shen Fan easily defeats Yuming and forces Yumu to kill his former companion, making Yumu unable to remain safely within the Hongyu Clan. 658 663 664

After escaping Origin World No. 8 with Shen Fan, Yumu decides to abandon the Hongyu Clan and steals several skyships. The clan brands him a traitor and issues a wanted order; Elders Thirteen and Fifteen later capture him and extract Shen Fan’s existence from him. 667 674 679
