First Appearance Chapter 620

Background

Yumu was an ordinary, low-status member of the Hongyu Clan assigned to monitor Origin World No. 8. His duty was to ensure the growth of exceptional native cultivators—whom the Hongyu Clan called “Mayflies”—until clan geniuses arrived to harvest them. Failure could lead to severe punishment or death. Despite cultivating for millions of years, Yumu remained at the bottom of the clan, which he attributed to his low birth and lack of access to resources rather than a lack of talent. 620

When he discovered that a highest-quality Mayfly had disappeared from his assigned world, Yumu concealed the anomaly instead of reporting it. He secretly entered Origin World No. 8, intending to force-ripen its cultivators, harvest their power, and use the proceeds to reach the True Lord realm. He accepted that his actions could ruin the world’s future value to the Hongyu Clan. 620 622

Appearance

Yumu is a Cyclops with a single eye. After using Blood Burning, the backlash leaves him visibly emaciated and severely weakened. 631 649

  • A one-eyed Cyclops of the Hongyu Clan. 620 631
  • Later described as having an emaciated figure after burning much of his bloodline power. 649
  • Wore a temporarily manifested King’s Robe while in his incomplete, blood-burning-enhanced True Lord state. 649

Personality

Yumu is ambitious, resentful of his low standing, and convinced that greater resources would have made him a major figure in the Hongyu Clan. His fear of clan punishment drives his initial secrecy, while his desire to escape the lower strata drives his exploitation of Origin World No. 8. 620

He is arrogant toward Origin World natives, routinely treating them as disposable “Mayflies,” yet his confidence collapses when faced with superior force. After Shen Fan captures him, Yumu repeatedly resorts to deception, flattery, bargaining, and betrayal to preserve his life. 622 650 653

Yumu is also pragmatic and opportunistic. He blackmails Yuming for healing medicine, accepts cooperation when it benefits him, and ultimately defects from the Hongyu Clan when he judges that remaining would lead to punishment. 662 667 674

Abilities & Skills

True Realm Cultivation

Yumu was originally a peak True Realm cultivator who had undergone the Sea of Worlds’ supreme-rule baptism, giving him a stronger foundation than most Origin World cultivators of the same realm. 620 632

  • Could contend with multiple peak True Realm opponents; by his own assessment, he could handle one opponent easily, two with difficulty, and four only to a draw. 632
  • His foundation was heavily damaged after using Blood Burning, preventing a normal breakthrough to True Lord. 648 657
  • He later recovered most of his bloodline power using Wood Flow Paste supplied by Yuming. 662

Inheritance Backdoors

Yumu distributed inheritances to the Central Sea of Chaos’s dominant races with hidden control mechanisms embedded within them. 622

  • Used the backdoor to instantly strip the Sky Snake Clan and Green Wood Clan powerhouses of their strength. 622
  • Expanded this control to six dominant races, placing their leaders and clans under his command. 631
  • The tampered inheritance left its recipients’ lives and racial survival under his control. 650
  • Attempted to give Shen Fan a modified Blood Demon Scripture containing serious hidden dangers. 651

Blood Demon Scripture and Blood Burning

Yumu possessed the complete Blood Demon Scripture, a Hongyu Clan inheritance capable of cultivation to the True Lord realm. 651

  • Blood Burning burns the user’s bloodline power for a temporary explosive increase in strength. 648
  • In this state, Yumu barely stepped into an incomplete True Lord level and manifested a King’s Robe. 649
  • The technique permanently consumes bloodline power and may destroy the user’s prospects of reaching True Lord. 648
  • Blood Burning enabled him to crush the bodies of several True Realm peak experts, but he collapsed from backlash after ending it. 649

Monster Cultivation and War Weapons

Yumu transformed living cultivators into monsters and force-fed them flesh, bloodline essence, and energy crystals to create disposable war weapons. 632 633

  • Refined dozens of late True Realm monsters in a concealed Small World. 633
  • Deployed the monsters against the Evil God Clan and the three-race alliance, inflicting massive indiscriminate casualties. 633
  • Treated the monsters with possessive affection while regarding the beings fed to them as expendable resources. 632 633

Origin Bead Refinement

Yumu used formations to extract True Realm Power from cultivated monsters and condense it into Origin Beads. 656

  • Origin Beads could supplement cultivation and help compensate for his damaged foundation. 657
  • The process kills the creatures refined within the formation after their True Realm Power is extracted. 656
  • His explanations and demonstrations allowed Shen Fan to learn the method independently. 657

Equipment / Items

  • Bronze Ancient Mirror — Used to monitor Origin World No. 8 and extract a trace of its aura for teleportation. 620
  • Bronze token — Communication device used to contact his superior, Yushan. 655
  • Teleportation formation — Used to leave Origin World No. 8 with Shen Fan. 666 667
  • King’s Robe — Incomplete supreme-rule manifestation formed during Blood Burning; blocked attacks below True Lord level until it began to fail. 649
  • Flying ships / skyships — Stole several Hongyu Clan vessels during his defection. 668 674

Relationships

  • Shen Fan — Initially viewed Shen Fan as a valuable native and later became his captive. Yumu supplied information and made a Supreme Rule contract to take Shen Fan out of Origin World No. 8, but secretly planned betrayal and informed Yuming about him. 650 655 658
  • Yuming — Childhood companion from the Hongyu Clan’s lower strata who became a superior Heavenly Prodigy. Yumu blackmailed him for Wood Flow Paste, then lured Shen Fan into Yuming’s ambush; under Shen Fan’s threat, Yumu killed Yuming. 661 662 664
  • Yushan — A higher-ranking Hongyu Clan captain whom Yumu treated with deference. Yushan assigned him to refine Origin Beads and gather evidence regarding Origin World No. 8’s anomaly. 655
  • Sky Snake King and Green Wood King — First dominant-race leaders enslaved through the inheritance backdoor; they became Yumu’s unwilling subordinates. 622
  • Six dominant-race Clan Leaders — Controlled servants who built Yumu’s Divine Palace, surrendered their geniuses and treasures, and carried out his conquest orders. 631
  • Elders Thirteen and Fifteen — Hongyu Clan elders who captured Yumu after his defection, searched his soul, and learned of Shen Fan. 679

Story Role / Major Arcs

Exploitation of Origin World No. 8

Yumu secretly descends into Origin World No. 8 after discovering a missing high-quality Mayfly. Rather than report the loss, he attempts to force-ripen the world’s cultivators and harvest enough wealth and True Realm Power to become a True Lord. 620 622

He enslaves the Sky Snake and Green Wood Clans through inheritance backdoors, then gains control over six dominant races and rules the Central Sea of Chaos from the Divine Palace. His campaign is exposed, prompting the remaining three dominant races to ally with the Evil God Clan. 622 631 632

War in the Central Sea of Chaos

To overcome the alliance, Yumu creates late True Realm monster weapons from sacrificed natives. The monsters turn the war in his favor but ultimately draw the enemy’s strongest forces into a coordinated confrontation. 632 633 647

Cornered by multiple peak experts, Yumu uses Blood Burning and reaches an incomplete True Lord state. He devastates the opposition but suffers crippling backlash once the technique ends, allowing Shen Fan to ambush and capture him. 648 649

Shen Fan’s Captive and Guide

While captive, Yumu tries to deceive Shen Fan with a flawed inheritance, but is forced to provide the complete Blood Demon Scripture. He later bargains for his life by revealing information about the Sea of Worlds, the Supreme Rules, and the Hongyu Clan’s harvesting practices. 650 651 653 654

Yumu and Shen Fan establish a binding contract: Shen Fan spares Yumu, and Yumu will take him out of Origin World No. 8. Despite the contract, Yumu secretly restores his influence, cultivates Origin Beads, and plans to betray Shen Fan once an opportunity appears. 655 657

Betrayal, Escape, and Defection

Yumu contacts Yuming and lures Shen Fan into an attempted ambush. Shen Fan easily defeats Yuming and forces Yumu to kill his former companion, making Yumu unable to remain safely within the Hongyu Clan. 658 663 664

After escaping Origin World No. 8 with Shen Fan, Yumu decides to abandon the Hongyu Clan and steals several skyships. The clan brands him a traitor and issues a wanted order; Elders Thirteen and Fifteen later capture him and extract Shen Fan’s existence from him. 667 674 679

Trivia

  • Yumu spent millions of years cultivating yet remained among the Hongyu Clan’s lower strata. 620
  • He calls Origin World cultivators “Mayflies” because their lifespans are far shorter than those of comparable Sea of Worlds cultivators. 653
  • Despite regarding himself as superior to Origin World natives, he is repeatedly outmaneuvered and overpowered by Shen Fan. 649 650 663
