Pine Wind Martial Arts School

Lin Lin is Lin Hai's son and Lin Yin's cousin. The Lin family placed great expectations on him after a martial arts instructor recognized his superior bone structure, which was said to surpass that of Lin Yin's late father, Lin Shan. Lin Shan's martial-arts-school favor and resources were redirected to secure Lin Lin's admission to Pine Wind Martial Arts School. 10 11 94

His talent made him a point of pride for the family. After drawing a one-stone bow before a crowd, he received public praise as a young prodigy and future Martial Artist. He attempted the two-stone bow but could not draw it. 6

Conflict over the Lin Family's inheritance

When Madam Wang and Lin Yin sought compensation for Lin Shan's estate, Lin Lin initially worried that the dispute would affect his own martial path. He considered worldly property insignificant compared with his future prospects and accepted the family giving the First Branch a shop. 13

Despite his condescending attitude toward Lin Yin's poor bone structure and lack of martial knowledge, Lin Lin offered him the Golden Bell Shield manual, explaining that it suited Lin Shan's Vajra Stake Technique. 11 12 Lin Yin secretly understood the manual immediately, but returned it while claiming that it was too complex to cultivate. 12

Failed breakthrough and later success

Lin Lin later entered seclusion to attempt a breakthrough. His family mistakenly believed he had reached Ming Jin and been selected for the Lieyang Escort Agency, but he returned without succeeding. The failed attempt left him suffering from Qi and Blood backlash. 92 94 95

He eventually became a Martial Artist, then advanced to Bright Strength. Empowered by this success, he sought to join the Tiger Head Mountain expedition, hoping that spirit-beast resources would accelerate his progress toward Hidden Strength and beyond. 123 125

After reaching Entry Level in Stance Practice, he lectures Lin Yin about the difficulty of cultivation and assumes that Lin Yin lacks the talent to progress quickly. 12 He later privately attributes Lin Yin's accomplishments to luck and remains convinced that his own superior aptitude will ultimately lead to greater success. 125

However, Lin Lin is not consistently cruel.
