Background / History

Yu Xiaogang is a member of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan and Yu Tianheng’s uncle. His low innate talent and inability to surpass Level 29 left him ostracized and deeply conscious of the gap between himself and powerful Soul Masters. 16 243

In his youth, he entered Martial Soul Hall as the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan patriarch’s son and formed a romantic relationship with the Saintess Bibi Dong. Lin Yuan’s diary attributes Bibi Dong’s initial admiration to Yu Xiaogang’s Martial Soul theory knowledge. 9 245

After his relationship with Bibi Dong ended, Yu Xiaogang wandered the continent and encountered Flender and Liu Erlong. The three formed the Golden Iron Triangle, becoming known for a Three-in-One Spirit Fusion Skill that could turn Luo Sanpao into the Golden Sacred Dragon. 246

Yu Xiaogang and Liu Erlong later planned to marry, only for Yu Luomian to reveal at the ceremony that they were close cousins. Yu Xiaogang fled rather than face the resulting condemnation, leaving Liu Erlong behind. 241 246

Nuoding Academy

At Nuoding Academy, Yu Xiaogang accepted Tang San as his direct disciple after discovering his Twin Martial Souls. He arranged Tang San’s first Soul Ring hunt, instructed him in Soul Power control, and treated the boy with visible care. 19 20 54

Yu Xiaogang also attempted to recruit Lin Yuan and Xiao Wu after learning that both possessed Innate Full Soul Power. He believed that guiding Tang San, Lin Yuan, and Xiao Wu would finally allow him to prove his theories and gain continent-wide recognition. Lin Yuan refused his offer. 9 10 55

Tang Hao initially suspected Yu Xiaogang of leaking his whereabouts to Martial Soul Hall, but accepted Yu Xiaogang’s denial after seeing his sincerity. The two later cooperated in Tang San’s training, with Tang Hao handling physical conditioning while Yu Xiaogang taught Martial Soul theory. 120 210

Shrek and Clear Sky Academy

During the Three-School Exchange Match, Yu Xiaogang was shocked by Xiao Wu’s growth and Soul Ring configuration, which contradicted his established theories. He later tried to restore Tang San’s confidence by predicting the future awakening of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline and the existence of a Soul Bone left by Tang San’s mother. 221 235

When Shrek Academy sought entry into Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Yu Xiaogang revealed Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer and Tang Hao’s identity in an attempt to pressure Meng Shenji into accepting Tang San and Dai Mubai. The disclosure instead caused the academy to reject them because of the danger associated with Tang Hao and the Clear Sky Sect. 244

Liu Erlong ignored Yu Xiaogang and Flender when they encountered her at the Great Soul Arena, making clear that she no longer wished to acknowledge their former relationship. Later, she rejected both men at the Blue Tyrant Academy gate. 241 247

After the group relocated to Clear Sky Academy, Yu Xiaogang became the target of a System task requiring Liu Erlong to make him drink Mother-Child River Water. He was later discovered pregnant and underwent an agonizing emergency operation; the supposed child proved to be a condensed mass of gas that formed a Luo Sanpao phantom before Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer destroyed it. 234 265 266

He is attentive and encouraging toward Tang San, offering practical instruction, meals, theoretical lessons, and long-term plans for his disciple’s future. He considers Tang San like a son and repeatedly urges him to endure temporary setbacks for greater gains. 14 120 235

However, Yu Xiaogang is also politically overconfident. He believed Tang Hao’s name and Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls would force Heaven Dou Royal Academy to compromise, concealing Tang Hao’s weakened condition in the process; Meng Shenji instead saw Tang San as a liability. 244
