Some of the lightly wounded who had received treatment were also ordered by their superiors to leave here and head back to the front lines.
As soon as the rain stopped, new patients were sent over. Uchiha Kin treated an Uchiha with eye injuries—one eyeball had ruptured, and the other was nothing but a bloody, gaping socket, grotesque to behold.
Uchiha Kin gave him a pair of eyes from a Grass Ninja.
When he woke up, the new eyes made him deeply uncomfortable. He tried desperately to "open his eyes," but there was no response. His mouth dry, he rasped, "I..."
"You're awake? Then rest well." Uchiha Kin nodded upon seeing him conscious.
But this Uchiha showed no gratitude: "Stop right there, you bastard. What did you do to me?"
Uchiha Kin ignored him and simply walked out.
"I'm busy. I don't have time for your boring questions—also, this is Konoha's field hospital. Please maintain enough composure and don't make a racket." Once outside, he said to the other two Uchiha, "The surgery is complete. You can take him away."
With that, Uchiha Kin gave a curt nod and left...
His relationship with these—no, with the vast majority of the "Uchiha"—was poor. These were the clansmen who had awakened the Three-Tomoe Sharingan.
In the Uchiha Clan, there was actually a rule. Only Uchiha who had awakened the Three-Tomoe Sharingan would be recorded in the Clan Registry, becoming "clansmen" with names and status, eligible to participate in rituals and clan meetings.
Someone like Uchiha Kin, who bore the Uchiha surname but had not awakened the Sharingan—even though he possessed Uchiha blood and was already a renowned ninja—
He was not a "clansman."
His status was no different from those commoner Uchiha who ran small businesses or worked as laborers. He was merely a person named Uchiha, not truly part of the "clan."
And this Uchiha, with his self-developed secret techniques, had become an outstanding Medical Ninja, surpassing even Princess Tsunade in ability. Especially in this war, he had shone brilliantly—which only made these "clansmen" find him all the more disagreeable.
Uchiha Kin's resume was too "rebellious." An Uchiha ninja known not for the Sharingan, but for Medical Ninjutsu...
Thus, their relationship was very poor. Uchiha Kin often faced their cold stares and mockery.
However, Uchiha Kin had no time to bother with their attitudes.
He simply returned their cold stares.
After he left, the two Uchiha entered the tent. The Uchiha who had just undergone surgery finally learned what had happened.
It turned out that during a surprise attack the night before, he had been ambushed and his eyes gouged out. He had only just woken up after the surgery was completed.
"So, the eyes I have now are just a pair of ordinary eyes?" He couldn't accept this reality. His emotions collapsed. "Bastard. I'm an Uchiha. How can I use ordinary eyes? Bastard..."
He got up from the operating table, intending to confront Uchiha Kin. He left the tent, asked for directions, and rushed over.
Uchiha Kin was in the middle of surgery when he burst in to interrogate him: "Uchiha Kin, you bastard! How could you give me ordinary eyes? This is a desecration of the Sharingan!"
"Then who did you want to gouge out their eyes for you?" Uchiha Kin turned his head and looked at the three of them. He glanced at the other two, then pointed his scalpel at one, "Him? Or him?"
"You!"
Uchiha Kin's tone turned cold. "Get out." He stopped looking at them. "Don't disturb my surgery."
The patient on the operating table had his chest wide open, a newly transplanted lung expanding and contracting with each breath. Uchiha Kin's hands moved swiftly, nerves as dense as grass roots falling into the wound as he stitched the chest closed.
The three left the tent. After a moment, this Uchiha finally reacted: "That Uchiha waste dared to tell me to get out."
"He was performing surgery, Yun Jian. No matter what, he saved your life. Without him, you'd be dead."
"With eyes like these, I'd rather be dead..."
His two companions were speechless.
This "Yun Jian" had a pathological obsession with the honor of the Uchiha Clan. Many of the clansmen who had awakened their eyes were similar. The two of them had some of it too, just not as strong... But regardless...
Targeting Uchiha Kin like this seemed wrong. One of them said, "Yun Jian, it's not Kin's fault that he can't awaken the Sharingan.
"In the clan, there are plenty of commoners and ninjas who haven't awakened their eyes. Why do you have to single out Kin?"
He genuinely didn't quite understand—Kin had worked so hard. He just had no talent for the Sharingan. But his Medical Ninjutsu was truly excellent, and his combat ability was no less impressive—in fact, it surpassed even theirs, the Three-Tomoe users.
That secret technique of manipulating kunai, shuriken, and steel wire had already advanced beyond the Uchiha style, reaching an unbelievable level.
Uchiha Kin was strong.
Yun Jian stiffened his neck: "Even if he hasn't awakened his eyes, he should train hard to do so, not mess around with Medical Ninjutsu—an Uchiha should dance on the battlefield, not embroider on an operating table."
"Hey, you bastard!" A fist suddenly appeared, smashing into the back of Yun Jian's head, sending him stumbling.
The owner of the fist wore goggles, his face full of indignation. Every spike of his hedgehog hair radiated fury. "I don't like that bastard either. But that bastard saved your life—you've gone too far."
It was Obito.
He threw two more consecutive punches, knocking the man to the ground, then straddled Yun Jian and started pounding him.
The other two hurried to pull him off.
"Obito!" Nohara Rin ran over from a distance, trying to hold Obito back, but her foot subtly kicked Yun Jian twice. She thought to herself, "Talking nonsense like that. Senior Kin is such a good person. He saved you, and you still curse him."
Kakashi arrived a few steps later, stepping between the two Uchiha to stop them from rescuing Yun Jian. "Obito has a bit of a temper. Don't mind him. He's just joking around with Yun Jian—
"Yun Jian was joking around with Kin just now too, wasn't he?" He found Yun Jian's behavior equally distasteful.
Though he didn't like some of Uchiha Kin's mannerisms, he admitted that Uchiha Kin was a very, very good person—a trustworthy comrade, a doctor who saved lives and healed the wounded. The vast majority of ninjas on this battlefield owed him a debt of gratitude.
He was a hero of Konoha, standing on the medical front lines. If other ninjas' medals were measured by how many enemies they killed, then Uchiha Kin's were measured by how many Konoha jonin, chunin, and genin he had saved.
Uchiha Kin did not deserve to be treated like this!
