Upon hearing Zhao Xu's command, the Demon Spider felt a tremor rising from its soul. It quivered as it said, "All right, please follow me."

It then obediently moved its eight limbs and took the initiative to lead the way for Zhao Xu. It was not particularly concerned with the route, however; webs tangled everywhere, and viscous fluid dripped from the ceiling.

Fortunately, Zhao Xu was protected by the Freedom of Movement spell and was completely unaffected by the webs' entangling effects. He followed the Demon Spider ahead of him without issue.

"How many years have you been guarding this place?" Zhao Xu suddenly asked curiously.

"About five hundred years," the Demon Spider replied. It continued moving swiftly, accurately conveying its will through telepathy.

Zhao Xu frowned slightly.

Otherworldly Creatures seemed immortal, but that also meant death was not available as a release. Retirement and old-age care were even less imaginable.

Unless something unusual happened, it was impossible to say how long it would have to stand guard. Invisibly, this was a permanent life sentence.

What a perfectly standard and cruel working demon. It was not much better off than tireless skeletons and zombies, those sorts of perpetual-motion machines.

"Are there many new spider breeds cultivated here normally?" Zhao Xu continued.

The Demon Spider answered telepathically, "The Spider Queen has more than a dozen similar locations. I do not know the specifics. But Wax Golem Envoys come here regularly to transfer the new breeds."

"You're quite willing to talk," Zhao Xu said in surprise. "Did you truly sense the power of the Axiom Hammer I held back then?"

If these Abyssal demons were simply afraid of death, they would be easy enough to handle.
