What was this?
The True Sight Spell granted him the ability to see through darkness, allowing Zhao Xu's gaze to pierce the shadows and layers of mist and glimpse the spider-transformed man lying in a corner.
The man's upper clothes were already in tatters. The left half of his face had turned into that of a spider, several spider legs grew from his back, and fine bristles spread across them. The sight alone was enough to make one's skin crawl.
"Who are you?" Zhao Xu asked.
The man merely raised his eyes to glance at Zhao Xu. "Heh? Lolth's male favorite? How did you get exiled to a place like this too?"
"No, I'm merely a traveler who wandered in here by mistake," Zhao Xu said.
The next instant, his gaze sharpened. He finally noticed that the man's back was firmly fused to the labyrinth wall, with countless thin threads piercing through his entire body.
"A traveler?" The vagabond-like man sneered, then continued staring up at the utterly unremarkable ceiling.
"Were you imprisoned or exiled here?" Zhao Xu asked.
The man directly shook his head. "I exiled myself here."
"I fell in love with someone I shouldn't have loved."
"A human girl transformed by a Wax Melt Demon?" Zhao Xu pointed out directly. The vagabond's brows instantly furrowed, and his expression became incomparably pained.
After hearing that, Zhao Xu simply walked past the man and silently continued forward into the darkness.
The Demon Spider was somewhat surprised. "Sir, according to your humans' customs, shouldn't you offer aid when encountering one of your own kind?"
Zhao Xu shook his head. "Sorry, but I'm not curious about other people's pasts at all."
"Or rather, if even he himself doesn't want to climb out of the pit, then nothing I say will help."
