City of Slaughter, Hell Road

A portal condensed from waves of fire suddenly appeared on Hell Road. Two figures emerged from the Flame Portal, one after the other—Qian Xunji and Man Yao.

"That god was too hateful! He nearly got us both killed!" Man Yao said through her red lips, her voice filled with resentment toward the Evil God.

After Man Yao woke up, she had asked what had happened while she was unconscious.

Qian Xunji told her the truth. It enraged Man Yao so much that she cursed the Evil God's ancestors for eighteen generations. Qian Xunji had been fine walking back along the way they came, but Man Yao had been somewhat frightened by the eerie ghostly flames and only made it out while holding his hand.

"We finally made it out!" Qian Xunji took a deep breath and sighed.

The experiences along the way still left him with lingering fear. Now that he had emerged from Hell Road, he even felt a trace of fondness for it.

The portal formed from waves of fire slowly vanished, as though it had never existed.

"Brother Xunji, let's keep going. We should not be far from the exit of the City of Slaughter," Man Yao said.

Qian Xunji nodded and followed Man Yao toward the City of Slaughter's exit.

"Brother Xunji, where are we going after we get out? I've never been out into the outside world before. I really want to see what it's like out there," Man Yao's cheerful voice echoed through Hell Road.

Perhaps because they were about to leave the City of Slaughter, Man Yao had freed some of the nature appropriate for her age. She was lively with a hint of playfulness, making her all the more endearing.

Hearing Man Yao's voice, Qian Xunji smiled.
