Background / History

Man Yao was born in the City of Slaughter, a place she describes as a realm of sin, bloodshed, and despair. Longing to escape, she once infiltrated the Slaughter King’s room to seek the secret of leaving. After being discovered, she refused to yield and instead tempered herself through slaughter while waiting for an opportunity to depart. 426

She later formed a close bond with Qian Xunji in the City of Slaughter. After her ninety-ninth consecutive victory in the Area of Slaughter, he prepared a celebratory meal for her. Their relationship became a source of family and safety amid the city’s violence; Man Yao, an orphan, came to value the care he gave her. 32

Following her martial soul’s evolution, Man Yao left the City of Slaughter alongside Qian Xunji. She experienced the outside world with him, including her first visits to an inn, street performances, shops, and the Brocade Pavilion. 50 54 55
