Since Wang Yi had made every response shot so far, he didn't take a three.
He merely faked by lifting his upper body, drawing both defenders into the air. Then he bent at the waist and slipped right between them, driving into the paint.
With Peter, the opposing center, in front of him, Wang Yi went straight up and dunked.
The move was exactly the same as Peter's dunk just moments earlier.
The difference was that Peter had dunked an uncontested ball, while Wang Yi was dunking over Peter.
And he wasn't using any fancy tricks. He simply jumped right in front of the center, determined to dunk over him by force.
Peter understood that, and he knew he absolutely couldn't let Wang Yi build momentum.
If Wang Yi got going, it would spark a Raptors counterattack, and they'd be hard to stop.
So when he realized he couldn't jump as high as Wang Yi and had no way to stop him, he simply swung at Wang Yi's arm.
Better to foul him than let him finish the dunk.
But Wang Yi was dunking with both hands. When Peter struck his right hand, knocking it away, Wang Yi relied on his incredible balance and core strength in midair, along with his unusually large hands, to grab the ball with his left before it slipped free.
He slammed it down into the hoop.
Clang...
A coast-to-coast, one-against-five play!
A dominant three-point play!!
Peter, the opposing center, and Wang Yi had both leaped almost straight at each other.
But Peter had only a step's worth of runway, while Wang Yi had much more. Wang Yi's momentum was therefore far greater.
In that instant in the air, Peter felt as if he'd been hit by a giant truck.
His whole body flew backward
